Love them, hate them, they've been with us from the beginning and will outlast all of us (like cockroaches). What's your favorite concept album?

I'd go with The Wall, Tales of Mystery and Imagination (orig. version, no Orson Welles please), I guess Rumours was an ex post facto concept album.

I guess I like the concept of concept albums :)

Marillion - Brave
Marillion - Clutching at Straws

not that there's a pattern there at all...

And the number of the counting shall be three.

Pretentious wank the lot of 'em. Waste of vinyl.

Dream Theater --- Scenes from a memory
Ayreon --- The Human Equation
It's about time for the past to end

Speaking of "pretentious wank", in it's time, I loved "Thick as a Brick and "Passion Play" along with every other 60's and 70's Tull album. Kind of lost touch since then, but Ian writes some pretty entertaining stuff on their website.

Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Restless Daughter.
Gong - Flying Teapot - Radio Gnome Invisible pt 1
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish you were here ( my fave of the 3)

I've only recently discovered Dream Theater...excellent stuff!

Thick as a Brick was my favorite makeout album back in the 70s. It still gives me pleasant associations :)

What concept was that based on?

Scratch that. Mutton roadkill, obviously. How could I be so prosaic.

Wow too much "traditional" music... Here is something a bit different.

Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms
Future Sound Of London - Dead Cities
Ollie Olsen - Emptyness

just a quick memory scan... I am sure the concept list could go on for ever :)
