does it come out the box with mixing plugins, or virtual instruments? I will be using it along with my X-air 18 for live shows and the tracking, editing, mixing, and mastering for my bands album. what else, if anything do I need after buying tracktion 7?

It comes with basic effects. You can add effects and instruments in the vst format. There are many free ones. You'll find lists of them in this subforum.
I'm not sure how you will integrate it in a live show, but for the other tasks it's extemely fast and simple, and plenty powerful.

This here is a very generic "getting started" sub-forum.
Better ask again here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=22
(the dedicated Tracktion forum, where all the T7 experts hang out)

Not really, unless you get the 'ultimate' package or whatever its called. There is an absolute wealth of free plugins out there, many of exceptional quality, so its a bit moot for a DAW these days, to be honest.tentrey wrote:does it come out the box with mixing plugins, or virtual instruments?
A visit to Bedroom Producers Blog, where they do a very good job of catalogueing free plugins.I will be using it along with my X-air 18 for live shows and the tracking, editing, mixing, and mastering for my bands album. what else, if anything do I need after buying tracktion 7?
There's a lot of threads that will cover that here too, but BPB distill things pretty well.
An idiot on Set Theory:

I mean I can use it to record my live shows with... and then touch them up a bit before sending out tracks for the band to hear. just using the DAW and not the other stuff until after the show is over

Also a lot of good tutorial videos on YouTube. Span T4, T5, T6, T7, but a lot of basic stay the same across versions. Search for "tracktion" or for "Bill Edstrom".
You can twist perceptions, reality won't budge.
