274 employees and they can't manage to port it to OSX?
furry muff then
They started to but dropped the project.

Enjoy Yosemite, El Capitan, Sierra sqigls, if possible. Apple is shifting the sands again. I suspect they secretly hate media people.

the name "Magix", to me, sounds like a good name for a company that sells cheap knock-off audio products.
or action figures or something.
It just sounds very very wack.
I may be way off but I thought it came from a split with eMagic years ago
Emagic was born of a split from C-Lab where the main developers (Gerhard Lengeling, Chris Adam and Clemens Homburg) first came out with Creator and then Notator, for the Atari. Actually, Logic 1 (not yet with audio) was still launched for the Atari under C-Lab, if I'm not mistaken

Magix acquired Hohner Midia, which was the successor of SEK'D (which, BTW, stands for Studio fur Elektronisch Klangerzeugung Dresden), and therefore Samplitude, but I think Magix was already a big company in the flourishnig market of Multimedia for the PC when Emagic was born. They were never related as far as I know. The main developers of Samplitude were (and still are, AFAIK) Titus Tost and Tilman Herberger.

I'm a Samplitude fanboy.
So what?

It's still considered a 'minority' DAW that has had features that the other DAWs are just now starting to emulate' (but not totally replicate). Same goes the other way around with the other DAWs, which have other features that I just never need or use.

I still get a superior mix in Sequoia much easier, faster, and without having to use a ton of plugins.
Audio editing and conversions/rendering stems is liquid fast.

It's still my most-used DAW (and I've used many others).

Don't ask me, I just play here.

I was very excited to demo after reading the blog... oh wells :(

I'm finally on Mavericks, after 3 years on Mountain Lion. but this is where I stop, as Cubase 6.5 doesn't run on anything higher apparently.

Actually eMagic, creators of eMagic Logic, was who were bought by Apple, producing Logic Pro. They also created one of the best patch librarians and editors ever, SoundDiver (with tremendous support by the author himself, Michael Hayden, back then), but that portion of the product line was immediately dropped by Apple after the acquisition.

Here is the very brief history of Magix. Samplitude was originally a project that became Sek'D (formerly Hohner Midia). (Wikipedia Samplitude Article) It was my understanding back then that it had originated as a university project, but I cannot find info confirming that. My first version of Samplitude was the one called Sek'D Samplitude 2496. Here is an old review comparing it with another version.

Hey, Hink! Finally joined SoundClick, and you've got a new follower! :-)

thanx guys, I was way off :tu: thanx Terry for following me, can I get your link? :)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I don't have anything there at SoundClick yet - still mostly at Soundcloud.

I personally never liked the phrase "jumped ship" as relates to switching software or preference. It implies that the ship is sinking, which is almost never the case. :hihi:

But, of course, lots of modern daw users are drama queens. ;)
