I think little pocket money priced plugs like this are a great idea. They get people to your site, they become 'customers' and you have people to mail and make offers to- it is a great way to 'introduce' people to your work. I'm in.

Definitely! I also like being able to get new products done more quickly. The Drop was a massive undertaking and I really just want to do a few smaller, more specific little plugins before tackling another massive project like that.

Especially the guitar world is full of these smaller projects. I'd love a really good emulation of the ProCo RAT. Also, why not some more obscure, random schematics you find around the net? There are tons of interesting DIY projects of small scale that may very well translate into interesting digital models.

If you have a framework ready and can churn out small plugins relatively quickly and price them low then I'm almost 100% sure you'll be expanding your core business quite significantly.

- Sound is more important than CPU efficiency

- Please consider implementing a simpler keyfile or serial -based copy protection instead of limited activations through online servers and all that

For me sound and low latency is way more important then CPU, especially for guitar efx and amp sims.

First up, this level of detail currently takes around 10% average 14% peak cpu of a single core of my i7 laptop when running at 88.2/96 kHz, is this level of cpu load acceptable for everyone?

Yes, I will always vote for more CPU-intensive effects that push forward the boundaries of simulation.

Ok, great, thanks for the feedback Just want to point out that at x1 oversampling (i.e. no oversampling) running at 44.1kHz the cpu usage is around 5.5% average 8% peak, but I'll also try and add an MD mode, and have an option to automatically switch to the HD mode on render.

If you don't want to pay then I would recommend the Mercuriall Audio TSC plugin, it is better than all the paid for versions I've tried. The TSE808v2 pops and crackles randomly and does a big "pop" and then falls silent if the input signal gets too loud. Different companies can indeed be using "analog component / circuit modelling", but that doesn't mean they've chosen the right components to model, there is always some degree of simplification done to get things to run efficiently, and it's critical to choose the right components and the right model parameters of the components to preserve the tone of the original circuit.

None of the models I've tried sound right, they all have major flaws including but not limited to:

• wrong drive tone - harmonics out by 20 dB when adjusting the drive knob even at low signal levels which gives a completely different sound to the drive when compared to the original circuit
• harmonics don't roll off properly at the top end when compared to the original circuit, this is typically a sign of not correctly modelled diode and capacitor interaction in the drive section
• buffers not modelled properly, including no clipping when the input signal is pushed up high
• crackling when adjusting the knobs
• limited oversampling options

In the near future I'll post some spectrum plots to show what I mean about the drive harmonics, but you can easily confirm this yourself by sticking a 200hz sine wave into any of the models vs the TS-808, turn all the knobs to full on both the models and the real deal and adjust the input signal level till you're getting a medium amount of drive. Have a look at the level of the 2nd harmonic (and all even order harmonics) - they are out by 20 dB to the circuit. Then try adjusting the drive knob, the second order harmonics should lower as you lower the drive knob.

i think Asym and Bias may be most interesting in hardware pedals i've used/heard that do similar type things.

Another good mod would be a mix knob. The sparkle drive pedal uses this. IMO the more mods the better. There are tons of free TS plugins and I bought a clone for $25 years ago that sounds great. I'd like to see something new that doesn't already exists in the plugin world. The Xotic BBpre is a great pedal that is based on the TS, but I don't think anyone has modeled it yet. I think it is just a TS with a Baxandall tone stack, so perhaps it would be easy to make if the TS is almost finished. Perhaps make it a separate pedal and sell both the TS and the BBpre as a bundle. I'd be interested in that.
