Since some people swear that changing the OP makes a big difference to the sound I've speculated a bit about whether this might have anything to do with the OP slew rate. It seems to me like if you drive the thing hard enough that you get something approaching a square wave at the op output then the speed of most transitions might be slew-rate limited. Out of sheer curiosity I would like to ask if you've tested anything like this and if so if the slew-rate actually makes any difference? If so I guess that could be candidate for a parameter.

I think you mean HM-2.EvilDragon wrote:I'll first be checking out Kazrog's Stockholm TS808 emulation... I just know he's gonna nail it

It's a pretty safe bet that he means the "Vintage Driver" instead of "Stockholm"

it might not be a mod per se, but it would be kool if there was very fine resolution parameter adjustment on the less 'extreme' end of the scale, or maybe just some kind of mode where you could set a ceiling and use the full resolution range for everything below the ceiling.andy-cytomic wrote: Are there any other ones that people would like?

Future request: Maestro Phaser Fuzz please. Schematics are here for the various revisions: http://www.luciferstrip.com/fuzz/maestr ... hazzer.pdf
I think the FP-2 was the more common one.

Anything making a 303 scream for $29 is a no brainer...
The MXR M-104 or tak your pick http://www.acidvoice.com/tb_303_best_di ... _pedal.htm
how about something more unique

Thanks for the detailed Explanation - highly appreciated!andy-cytomic wrote:If you don't want to pay then I would recommend the Mercuriall Audio TSC plugin, it is better than all the paid for versions I've tried. The TSE808v2 pops and crackles randomly and does a big "pop" and then falls silent if the input signal gets too loud. Different companies can indeed be using "analog component / circuit modelling", but that doesn't mean they've chosen the right components to model, there is always some degree of simplification done to get things to run efficiently, and it's critical to choose the right components and the right model parameters of the components to preserve the tone of the original circuit.jens wrote:What's wrong with the TSE one? Afaik they also use analog component/circuit modelling.bmanic wrote:.I'd love a really good emulation of the ProCo RAT.
(They have a Tube Screamer emulation too b.t.w.)
None of the models I've tried sound right, they all have major flaws including but not limited to:In the near future I'll post some spectrum plots to show what I mean about the drive harmonics, but you can easily confirm this yourself by sticking a 200hz sine wave into any of the models vs the TS-808, turn all the knobs to full on both the models and the real deal and adjust the input signal level till you're getting a medium amount of drive. Have a look at the level of the 2nd harmonic (and all even order harmonics) - they are out by 20 dB to the circuit. Then try adjusting the drive knob, the second order harmonics should lower as you lower the drive knob.
- wrong drive tone - harmonics out by 20 dB when adjusting the drive knob even at low signal levels which gives a completely different sound to the drive when compared to the original circuit
- harmonics don't roll off properly at the top end when compared to the original circuit, this is typically a sign of not correctly modelled diode and capacitor interaction in the drive section
- buffers not modelled properly, including no clipping when the input signal is pushed up high
- crackling when adjusting the knobs
- limited oversampling options

Great I'm getting my first electric guitar in a few days I use Amplitube but I don't like using their older simulations as they get better at it each year combine that with Cytomic for the best

i had never heard that before, but i went to look for a demo vid on youtube and the first one that i watched mentioned exactly that:resynthesis wrote:Wasn't that Boss (FZ-2) a tweaked Superfuzz?
