It's somewhat of a reasonable assumption, given the outcry. It might not be half of their current user base. But they will loose both current and potential users. That's an inevitable consequence of a change like this.chk071 wrote:How would you even know?popskull wrote: Well done bitwig. Great release and strategy. Piss off half your users.

It may actually be even more... Or less.
Time will tell, but for sure, is not a smooth ride so far.

I hope ti doesn't get locked, this thread is amusing! It's especially funny to me the wacky ideas people have about what freedom of speech is. Like it permits you to do anything you want and be disruptive of a private place or site. it reminds of people who protest a speaker at a lecture because they disagree with them, and claim it's freedom of speech to yell and scream and get up on stage and disrupt an event because it's freedom of speech. No. It's a private venue and there are rules to admittance. Freedom of speech means you can set up your own lecture and say the opposite things. Or ask questions as per the rules of the event. Same goes on KVR. Can't believe people don't get that.
Anyways, moderation, like any enforcement of rules will never be perfect. I don't fault Bitwig for enforcing the rules. They don't seem to try to hide criticisms from what I can tell.

Im all for the semi subscription model if it allows them to bash out new features. They already do that pretty damn quick any way so if it allows them to be even more fluid and.. if you upgrade just before a big release u don't lose anything. Seems like a nice model to me. 150 quid a year to stay at the bleeding edge of electronic music production is actually pretty reasonable tbh. Its been extremely reasonably priced so far for what they have delivered. CV integration looks great but I cant afford analogue gear. I would be able to had I not quite my job that actually sent me insane but now I got lots of time to use amazing software so all good in the hood. I cant wait till the full modullar under the hood environment becomes available but this is still a welcome new release packed full of features. Im really excited to try out the new mod slots and yeah Im gonna buy straight away cant wait to get creative with this. Thanks Bitwig team! I wonder what Ableton are doing are they still on vacation lol...

Oh, okay. I also browse the internet for Windows issues frequently. It's full of those. Windows must be a completely buggy POS.liquidsound wrote:Just surf the Internet.chk071 wrote:How would you even know?popskull wrote: Well done bitwig. Great release and strategy. Piss off half your users.

I just went back through this and several other threads about the cost etc. The 'outcry' seems to be the same half a dozen people posting over and over (and over) again.Kai Enaki wrote:It's somewhat of a reasonable assumption, given the outcry. why no outcry, it makes me realy sad, if you got familiar with a second daw. I bought it cheap as second hand edu version and use it on my multitouch notebook. I realy like the lfo and step sequenzer to modulate vst synths and effects, which are bether than the m4l stuff from my main daw. Also the touchinterface makes realy fun to perform. Regarding the update price, i don't realy need two daw, so i will focus on ableton and feel like wasting time to learn a second daw and to be patient with all the problems i had with an immature daw, all controller conflicts, wasting time to integrate my ipad with lemur and to miss features that are in other daw standard.
I will continue to use V1 on my notebook but will reduce the effort and time with it, because it's not essential for me, therefor i won't pay 160€ every year.
I know i am not the best customer for bitwig, but i think i am not the only customer who doesn't use bitwig for main projects.
Maybe i'll update anyday, i don't know. 160€ are much money, but i would have paid it for a major update if it's for some years like ableton. Last ableton update to v9 also had an intro update price for the suite version for 150€. In these 5 years i would have paid 750€ - no thanks bitwig

given the fact you have nothing useful to add to the conversation and no more cat pics are getting posted maybe it would be easier for you to just ignore the threadincubus wrote:I've seen this thread over moderated, and under moderated. Now, it's just time for a lock. Why should it suffer anymore?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

The 159 EUR / 169 USD id for the major V2 update which last forever (you never need to update again if you don't want to, it will still work!). As a bonus you get any major update or .5 update FREE if it is within a year....try the demo, if you don't think its worth the upgrade price, don't upgrade....then do the same again in a year. If Bitwig done deliver some major updates within the year (for free) then no one will subscribe again...I think the first year of free 'major feature' updates should be a good one....

If it would be my major DAW i would update, but i miss a lot features from ableton and don't think they will be implemented in one year, so i have no hope that in one year i am thinking i don't need the next years an other update. The os, controllers and other plugins also set new standards, conflicts etc thats why a daw should be keept up to date and if they are releasing new modules in the modulare architecture, than i might think to miss something out - it's slike a subscription trap.
