Hi there, this is my setup:

PC with Cubase SX 1.01.
Roland RS5 Synthesizer connected via Edirol USB MIDI Interface.
UB1204 Mixing Console.
I have got the sound card and the keyboard both connected to the mixer so that I can hear both audio from my softsynths and midi from my keyboard through the headphone port on my mixer.

Now, my problem.

Whenever I record something on MIDI channel one in cubase and then try to record something else using my keyboard on midi channel two, it triggers the sound from midi channel one as well. This happens with all other tracks.

temp solution.

for the time being i'm just selecting a sound in channel one, muting the channel and then just using the other channels to write, avoiding using channel one.

I think it may have something to do with the performance modes setup on my keyboard but not entirely sure.

Can someone help me with this? Or is it a common problem in Cubase?

Cheers!

1) Why in the world are you still on SX 1.01? Get 1.06 at least.

2) From what you're describing, sounds like you have Omni mode that transmits on all channels maybe? On my keyboard, I have Local turned off, so I can only have Cubase trigger sounds, not me triggering sounds when I play. That could be it too.

Hey,

That could well be the answer, because I'm pretty sure i'm triggering the sound preset on the keyboard as well as the sound cubase wants to play.

But yea, I'll have to look up on that one.

Thanks.

PS. yea yea I'm upgrading, 101 does the trick for the moment, i'm only doing midi so ....
