Watcha,

Prior to me spending silly money around Christmas on music, I'd be grateful for a heads-up about which new artist/band has most impressed people this year?

Any genres are welcome.
Be much appreciated if it was just one recommendation, as opposed to an unreadable KVR thread wall of 10 Youtube videos, per respondent thanks.

For me, the Merseyside band She Drew the Gun is a well solid effort:

Strong lyrics and piercing observations throughout the album ''Memories of the Future'' from the winners of Glastonbury Festival's 2016 Emerging Talent Competition.

So which newcomer gets your vote this year?

My vote goes to Mad & Dread, a dynamic reggae production duo from Finland.

In total, the guys got plenty of experience under their belts, but some time last year they started working together, got their act on a whole new level and this year they've been pushing out insane amounts of great music with singers from all over the globe.

They're responsible for the composition, recording, mixing and so on. All purchases from the Bandcamp page go towards a charity in Ethiopia -- and there's plenty to choose from, including several dub cuts of each tune. Great music, good works, admirable work morale.

Not all that new, but new to me... The Cheatahs. I saw them in San Diego about 6 months ago with about 40 people. Hugely underrated / undiscovered in my book -
