Drums and FL Studio

Hello everyone,

I recently bought an E-drum kit, to start drumming. Specifically, a Medeli DD-522 Electronic Drumset. Now, I found the MIDI-in and -out thingies. Bought a Midi-USB cable and tried connecting it to my laptop. That worked well enough, even hooking it up to FL Studio 12 worked. Except, it will only play 1 drumsound on all the pads when I connect it to Fl Studio. I thought getting the Addictive Drums VSTi would solve this problem. But, somehow, the plugin doesn't pick up on the MIDI connection and simply ignores my ramming on the pads.

Would anyone of you be able to tell me if what I'm trying is possible and maybe the correct settings for the whole setup?
