That's great wagtunes. Looking forward to what you can do with a minimoog on steroids.wagtunes wrote:Well, I've decided I am going to be picking this up eventually. Can't find fault with something that sounds this great and is so feature packed for a Minimoog.

Believe it or not, I have never made a patch for a Minimoog. Not even from patch sheets. So this is going to be a first for me.Yorrrrrr wrote:That's great wagtunes. Wow, I thought you came from the age of the vintage minimoog.wagtunes wrote:Believe it or not, I have never made a patch for a Minimoog. Not even from patch sheets. I did. But the only Moog I ever owned was a Sonic Six. Owned a ton of ARPs but never really got into the Moog sound. I wasn't a big fan. And to this day I still don't get the fascination with the CS 80.Yorrrrrr wrote:Wow, I thought you came from the age of the vintage minimoog.wagtunes wrote:Believe it or not, I have never made a patch for a Minimoog. Anyway, don't get me started on an era that befuddled the hell out of me.

So, do you find the 'Moog sound' lovely now? The Legend can do it, I think. And much more.wagtunes wrote:I did. But the only Moog I ever owned was a Sonic Six. I have grown to appreciate it for what it is. It's not WT synthesis. It's not additive. It's not granular. And it's not modular mayhem. But it's great for a lot of bread and butter stuff that is nice to have around.Yorrrrrr wrote:So, do you find the 'Moog sound' lovely now? The Legend can do it, I think. I used a lot of Moog sounds for my prog rock project because they fit.
If nothing else, this should be an interesting time for me trying to see what I can get out of a handful of waveforms and a relatively simple filter system.

Thanks Richard.Richard_Synapse wrote:Since some asked, here's the list of new patches in v1.1:

Most of the new patches take advantage of the new features, i.e. velocity, aftertouch, or the bandpass filter.
Btw the Rack Extension version 1.1 will follow very soon as well, probably before this weekend.

Okay, I downloaded the demo and I have a number of questions on mod wheel and MIDI assignments.
I see there is no mod matrix which makes sense as the original didn't have one.
As I am not intimately familiar with the original hardware, how was the mod wheel hard wired? Was it hard wired to vibrato or what? How is the Legend mod wheel hard wired or is it not? I don't see any default patches in the demo so I don't have any idea what a "dry" patch sounds like and what the mod wheel does or doesn't do on a dry patch.
Next, MIDI assignments. I see there is a MIDI learn which I will assume will not only work with the mod wheel but any of the keyboard sliders on my keyboard controllers. My question is this. Are these MIDI assignments memorized, meaning if the patch is transported to another PC and another user opens it up, assuming patch notes are included so they know what MIDI CC to assign to each slider, will the patch respond properly like it does, for example, when I make patches for something like Falcon using MIDI CC assignments?
Finally, is there any way to assign start and end points for each control? For example, assigning mod wheel to filter cutoff, I see that the range defaults to completely closed for down and completely open for up. Not the most ideal for patches where you'd really like fine tune control over the timber over time.
From what I can see just from initial inspection, not the easiest synth to make libraries for because of these limitations. Yeah, I know. We're all spoiled. But I'm not overly thrilled about programming patches for synths where I don't have the kind of control that I'd like.
I'm not saying this is a deal breaker for the Legend (because it sounds amazing) but from a business standpoint, not my first choice for synths to program for patch distribution.
Any feedback on any of the above is appreciated.

On the original the mod wheel is basically a "mod amount" control.
Mod source was 3rd oscillator or noise.
Only 2 mod destinations - oscillator pitch and filter frequency.

Okay, so then outside of the MIDI learn function, there is no way to assign mod wheel directly to the filter cutoff to open and close it, correct?Mutant wrote:On the original the mod wheel is basically a "mod amount" control.

I think so, yes. Though, you can now assign aftertouch to filter cutoff, to open and close the filter directly. Mod wheel is a modulation amount, sources are the OSC 3, noise or a mix of both, and destinations are pitch and filter cutoff.wagtunes wrote:Okay, so then outside of the MIDI learn function, there is no way to assign mod wheel directly to the filter cutoff to open and close it, correct?Mutant wrote:On the original the mod wheel is basically a "mod amount" control.

Inside the plugin ? IDR, my demo timed out long time ago.wagtunes wrote:Okay, so then outside of the MIDI learn function, there is no way to assign mod wheel directly to the filter cutoff to open and close it, correct?Mutant wrote:On the original the mod wheel is basically a "mod amount" control.

But you can use your DAW to learn the cutoff knob to MIDI CC1 (mod wheel).

Understood. But for the purposes of creating patches for distribution, there are limitations that I'm not quite used to working with because of the abilities of today's synths as far as modulation matrix's go.Mutant wrote:Inside the plugin ? There are limitations, of course. After all, this is just a minimoog emulation, with the right amount of additions to be much more, but not become bloated, IMHO. It's nowhere near to the complexity we can find in recent plugins. The Legend excels at basic and retro sounds, but it can do pretty great sounding, modern patches as well. I love the new ones for version 1.10 from KS, IW and RH, in the full version. And the ones in the already released commercial packs from VSP and Xenos Soundworks.wagtunes wrote:Understood.
