K, so i'm using FL studio 4.5.2, and i've got a bunch of plugins going. I'll be tweaking around with some plugin a little too much, my cpu jumps to 100%, and FL studio crashes. I manually terminate FL studio, but the block of audio it's been playing doesn't stop, no matter what i do.

I have a sound blaster audigy 1 using the latest drivers in ASIO mode. Has this happened to anyone else? I just want to know how to get the audio to stop. I end up having to restart my pc, and that truly suxors. :help:

The Audigy is notorious for it. You may well be better off using the KX drivers (do a Google search for KX Audigy or something).

Hmm, so are you sure it cures that hang?
I think i used the kX drivers for my SB live like 2 years ago.. i remember it having problems with doing input.. are they significantly better than creative's drivers?

You should definitely try the KX drivers again. I used them on an audigy platinum eX and their performance was excellent. Configuring the i/o 's is a little hairy, but worth the effort.

Hope it works for you!

if you have any usb midi devices, unplug / replug them after the crash.

I have the exact same problem, and as I see no real solutions were posted eversince.

Anyone knows how to reset the Audigy without rebooting the computer?
Does this happen with Audigy2 or Audigy4 as well?

This is more than enough for me to start thinking on a new sound card. :-o

I've had the same thing happen with several different hosts, with other sound cards, and on both Win98SE and WinXP. I think it's quite possibly a problem inherent in VST, ASIO, or Windows.

The only good news I have, is that Forte Ensemble seems to be much more resistant to such lockups than any other host I've tried yet. If that developer can build such a crash-resistant host, perhaps the other developers came come up with something better also? (Even if it were a problem inherent in ASIO, VST, or Windows, perhaps the host might be able to compensate for the issue.)

take care,
