Hi there!

I'm getting started with DAWs and giving a try to VSTs, lots of stuff to discover :).
I've noticed a click/pop just at the start of every note when using certain VSTs. It happens with every DAW I tried, can also be heard in the rendered files. I wonder if that sound is expected or there is something wrong with my OS setup or soundcard.

I've rendered a quick sample with Reaper and uploaded it here: http://vocaroo.com/i/s1SOBLSZE8nv (http://vocaroo.com/i/s1SOBLSZE8nv)

The sample is using Dexed and the PHAROH preset, can be found in the default cart.
The notes played are: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bass ... ?qsrc=3044 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bass_sample2.mid?qsrc=3044)

Could anyone try to reproduce it? Thanks in advance.

I guess the attack is too short.

Theres also a pad called -WOBBLE 1- in the default cart showing the same problem. I still have no clue about how to properly tweak Dexed, but sounds like this one does have a way longer attack.

I've also rendered a quick sample: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0xuqGwpk9As (http://vocaroo.com/i/s0xuqGwpk9As)

If sounds like that for everyone and it's still normal, I guess I'll have to fix a bunch of them.

Dunno if it's a bug in dexed or this vsti has very fast envelopes, but for the Pharao preset you can solve it by lowering the EG rate 1 from 99 to 80 for the 6 operators.

Comparison of Dexed with FM8. 130 Hz Sinus, OSC sync on (wave starts at phase zero).
Quickest attack (dexed rate 99, FM8 1 ms).

You see, that the initial rise of the wave is much steeper in Dexed, this makes the "click".

You should be grateful. Not many soft synths have the "click" on the sine, or any other wave. ;) Most don't even get clicky when you set the phase reset to 90°. If you really want to get rid of it, try free running oscillators, if Dexed does that (no idea how it is on FM synths, i guess they should have DCO's), or, dial in a bit of amp envelope attack.
