I have one, but no manual.
If you have a manual can you tell me how to change the parameters so the spd6 is not letting out a long release, and how to change the sensitivity of the pads.
I keep on getting cross fires.
Thanks,
dw

i have one, too, and also lack a manual. I can't check for you just now, since it is on loan to a friend, but I did find that someone posted a whole lot of info in their review here:

Scroll through that lot, and you'll see what I mean.

I own a TD6-KV and had a SPD-20 before and my guess is changing the sensitivety is about the same since the SPD-6 is the SPD-20's little brother:
----------------------
from the SPD20 manual:
1) Press EDIT to enter the Edit mode.
2) Press SELECT so the "SYSTEM" parameter group LED is lit.
3) Use UP or Down to select "TRIG SENS."
4) Strike one of the 8 pads.
5) Use PATCH/ VALUE [-] or [+] to set the value from 1 to 16.[/i]
----------------------
When you wanna change the release of a sound... look for DECAY and adjust the value. That's the term Roland uses for it. Should be somewhere in the edit menu. My guess is (since most of their gear works the same):
1) press EDIT
2) press INSTRUMENT
3) scroll to DECAY and lower the value

Thanks Scot, that helps me out.
I was remapping the notes with Ext, but the cross fires, and delays were making it murder to edit in SX.
cheers,
dw

Are you all set then? Or do you still need info?
Pad velocity and pedal switch velocity can be set individually for each pad and stored as part of a user program.
For global settings:
1. Press power to turn the unit off.
2. Hold down Drums/U1 and 1 and press Power to turn the unit back on. Drums/U1 and 1 will flash.
3. Refer to this list to select the parameter to edit:
Trigger Threshold = SFX/U3 and 1
Trigger Sensitivity Hand = SFX/U3 and 2
Trigger Sensitivity Stick = SFX/U3 and 3
Others/U4 flashes and SFX/U3 lights and one of the buttons 1-4 will flash according to the setting.
4. There are four possible settings using the buttons 1-4. 1 being the weakest; 4 being the strongest.
5. Press Others/U4 (it will be flashing) to save to store the new value.
6. Now you will see Drums/U1 and 1 flashing again. At this point you can select another parameter to edit. At this point you can turn the power off. If you do so prior to this point, your changes will be lost.
7. Alternately, you can press Other/U4 to exit edit mode and enter regular play mode.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Lion Dream
I also need to know how in the hell to control the decay or release of the midi signal.
I remember there being something about setting it longer if your external sampler did not have a hold option.
Mine is turned on so every freakin' note in my editor shows up as almost a whole bar...ARGH
Can you help me with this...pleeeeeaaaaase!!!
thanks,
dw

Hi Dusted,
Sorry for the delay...
Do you mean the gate time? Here's how to do that:
1. Start with the spd-6 turned off.
2. Hold down the two buttons corresponding to the patch you wish to edit and turn power on. The two buttons of the patch to be edited will flash.
If you wish to cancel that, press Others/U4
3. HOld down Drums/U1 and press 2
Others U/4 will flash and Drums/U1 as well as one of the other buttons 1-4 will light.
4. Strike a pad to select the pad whose properties you wish to change. Strike the center of the pad and do so slightly harder than usual. One of the buttons 1-4 will light depending on how it's set. See no. 5
5. Press 1-4 to make changes to the gate time as outlined below:
1 = 0.1 secs.
2 = 1.0 secs.
3 = 2.0 secs.
4 = 4.0 secs.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other pads. If you wish to edit a footswitch instead of a pad repeat the steps using the footswitch instead of the pads.
7. Press Other/U4 (which will be flashing) to save your edits.
Notes:
Don't turn off the power after pressing Other/U4 until after the buttons indicating the patch have flashed.
If you want to continue setting other parameters, hold down SFX/U3 and press Other/U4.
Gate time defaults to 2.0 secs. in the factory setting.
Does any of that ring a bell? Is that the information you were looking for?

I was thinking of getting myself one of these and was wondering how it actually triggers by MIDI? Does it use particular notes by default for different pads?
As well as just jamming with the internal sounds, i'll likely be plugging it into Buzz and triggering the SGrid percussion sampler with it. It sounds like what i want but i'd like to know what i'm getting myself into before i start laying down any cash for it.
