ALSO!! This example is with oversampling OFF.
I will upload another with oversampling on soon i guess...
8x oversampling maybe does it a bit more justice. Though the grit at 0x is pretty close to an RE-201
The oversampling makes things a lot smoother to my ears. Anyway... this has 0 x oversampling sorry.

0:00 to 0:39 is the “Old” tape type
0:40 to 1:21 is the “Modern” tape type
1:22 to the end is the “Original” tape type

This is only head 1, applied to only the snare drum and timbale.
I’ve automated some tape wow to 100% in places.

The Rhodes keyboard has an instance of OuterSpace applied too (using one tape head and the reverb effect), but is a static setting with no automation or influence on the tweaks you’re hearing.

The effect return channel does not clip in this example, but there is a transparent limiter on the main buss, with no increase in input volume applied.
There are no other delay or reverb effects applied anywhere in this audio example.

Yes, oversample does smooth everything, I've been testing mostly with 4x or 8x but it really depends on the source material (and if it's worth the higher CPU load).

I will spend an hour or two tonight with oversampling, and with different sample rates... and with the AU... I can report though, that I've had 0 problems with 48kHz... it's actually eeire, I don't think I've used such a stable plugin in beta... i've automated most parameters, with no hicups, no crashes, no glitching... OSX 10.9.5 x64 VST

ok, i'd better get back to testing while i have a free hour or so

Some more audio examples to show how the oversampling affects the sound.
Of course, this is a beta plug, so I may have wasted my time

the sound may not be the same in the release version.

All these examples are the default "Original" tape type.
And ALL examples have 25% Wow/Flutter affecting the tape.

This example runs through the different oversampling options to show the varied tones that can be achieved just by changing the oversampling rate. One bar of each option (dry, OFF, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x), on snare, rhodes and Peti soft synth.

Wow awesome demo. I couldn't have done it better!
I think that for a good compromise between quality and CPU usage, 4x or 8x are the best settings. Without oversampling you loose that warm tape smoothness.

Anyway, I'll start working on the GUI next week, meanwhile a lot of fine tuning to do

sometimes i prefer 0 x
just cos it's gritty, but yeah, it really does depend on the source material, where you want it to sit in the mix, or how rich you want to make it... the oversampling on OuterSpace (for me, being a dub guy) is like having different colours to paint with. Can't wait for the new GUI, i LOVE this plugin. It's straight into my live set, no questions asked. Awesome job Carlo.

Yes, no oversampling can get definitely gritty, and of course it's just another flavour that can be useful

Good to know that the beta is solid, I really plan to release it at the beginning of March, so we are on track!

AudioThing team: If I bought the plugin through a third party (e.g. pluginboutique.com ), would it still be possible to get the free upgrade to the new plugin when it's released? Or would this only apply to when it's purchased directly through your site ?

We are still working on the UI and fine tuning everything. The first round of beta tests was quite successful. ETA should be about 2 weeks.
