Removing access to the use of previous versions (licenses) is the wrong move, very surprised such a circumstance. I think pass.
(In principle, main interest was just in new wave table section. which is quite have many replacements to today, so, not big deal. For example, if would was updated granular engine would have been more difficult dilemma).

HALion 6 upgrades HALion 5. Once you install it, there is no more HALion 5. You can't run them side by side.
Actually, you can (at least the standalones and the 32-bit HALion 5). The problem now resides in the license. The license that came for HALion 6 does NOT allow running previous versions. But, at least judging from the first reply I got from Steinberg, this wasn't supposed to be like that, so, I'm waiting for them to sort out the problem.
Good - let's hope that includes Hypersonic too still - not heard a peep from my support email

Btw, official support (even in H5 times) does not recognize the Hypersonic license support by Halion license. There is no sense even to write them about it. As I understand it from their point of view, this some kind of mistake. (so to speak, not official ability).
Therefore, I very doubt that this will saved in h6 license. (but if I am wrong - it would be good news).

They don't support Hypersonic, of course, but the question here is about the license. If the license was born from Hypersonic 2 (which was my case, for example), then ANYTHING from Hypersonic 2 onwards would be authorized (and it was, AFAIK). Before this "blockade" I was able to open HALion 4, HALion 5, HALion Sonic and HALion Sonic 2. Now, I can only open HALion Sonic 3 and HALion 6. But the answer I received from Steinberg said that I could still run HALion 5 (which I couldn't as I showed with the attachment in the reply). So, it seems this was a mistake, as I was suspecting. Something went wrong with the licenses issued.

Here are the questions they posed to me:

Are you trying to run HALion 5 in a 32-bit DAW?
Do you receive any error message(s)?
The HALion 6 license will allow you to open HALion 5 as stand-alone version.
In Cubase, you are also able to open project that previously opened with HALion 5.
These instances will now be opened with HALion 6.

I talk exactly about Hypersonic license. Not about Hypersonic technical support.

As I wrote before, I no longer use Hypersonic 2, but I think someone here posted that he/she was still able to launch Hypersonic 2. Did you experience otherwise?

Trying to install now - the installer is so confusing, not giving me the option to install on my external SSD drive where it was installed before.

I was hoping they fixed that issue by now!

It was Amused that posted here something that implies he was still using Hypersonic 2:

ive read the Steinberg Forum , and they said that it is not a mistake that those previous licenses gots removed . its due to the change from usb e licenser to soft licenser (it is very bad that they didnt write that in description for customer that it will disable previous license due to their change ) , if people needs their halion 5 license back due to some circunstances you needs to write to the support , why and that you needs it back , and knowing steinberg due to the many support mails now , it will takes a long time before they even answere .

I went there, and read the explanation, but sincerely, it didn't convince me. What has the migration to do with the upgrade? I have to point where my old license is in order for the upgrade to work. I even have nothing installed in the soft eLicenser. Everything is in the USB dongle. They simply messed it up, and now came with a lame excuse.

WTF solution is that to contact support IF we need HALion 5? It's not up to them to even question IF we need it or not. We bought the license, we are entitled to it, needing or not. If the new license is not compatible, they should simply had it installed aside the existing HALion 5 - period.

In the Mac installer at the bottom it let's you select the location for the content or skip the installation of the content, it was a totally trouble-free procedure here.
