Not sure if this should go here or in getting started.
So i just got shortcircuit the sampler...
My needs are primarily as a library player for now at least.
Is the deal with Kontakt vs a free sampler that when its free you have to hunt down all the libraries yourself while with kontakt you get 40 gigs of the stuff pre packaged?
Is kontakt really worth the asking price?
Im assuming i just have to trawl through the sample lists in this sub forum for all my sample library needs?
Cheers
Where to start with samplers?

It's one of the 'deals' but maybe you just want to roll your own or get creative
Also you get support for Kontakt
Short-circuit is a discontinued product

If you are looking for acoustic type instruments get free SForzando and check out my little list.

Also google up bedroom producers blog.
There are many more freebies for Kontakt which can usually be had for $200 or if you get lucky $125 on a summer upgrade sale from free Drum'ica, plus the included library is passable for most things. The big lack is decent pianos and Piano in 162 and Estate Grand LE fix that.
