Loop-function … arrgh

It's often the things in RC, that should be most obvious, that drive me crazy. Could someone please explain the loop-function to me?
In the screenshot above, I would like the loop to go from measure 1 to 4. Instead, it's looping until measure 8. Why? What's the function of that blue line that I have created above the chord-progression? I always thought that this would define the loop. But no. What's it for, then?
Next, I thought, the loop might be defined by the red line (which says part 1, line1). But no again. The loop is playing up to the end of measure 8. So how is the loop defined? I don't get it.

Thanks, Yellukhan.
Yeah, ok … I had figured that out, myself. But: Why two buttons for one function?
And: If I don't press that second region-button, but just the loop-button alone: It still loops, but for a different length! Where is that (second) loop defined?
In the example above, the loop without the region-button enabled, seems to go until measure 11. Not until 8, as I would have expected. Why on earth …?

If only the loop button is highlighted, the whole composition is played in a loop.

The composition is a hierarchy of parts and lines, so you need to make a 'line' shorter or longer.
There are many ways to add or remove a beat or bar, or remove the selection:

The easiest is to grab the small handle at the right end of the timeline and drag it horizontally.
