And especially these Nebula friends are hyping their beloved products in all communities I'm in - as if they get paid for it. That's annoying, not infomative and I'm now fighting back this unnecessary thread abuse.

What's ironic here is your own lack of self-judgement. YOU are the reason I posted my post.. you used the word "fanboy" to reply to a person who made a really level headed, non-confrontational post, just stating his own opinion and not trying to persuade other people into anything.

I just posted in the thread about the new PA tube saturator HG-2 - some rave about it and some wouldn't pay a $1 for it. It's pretty much the same with most plugins. Take Nebula for example. one person here says its not worth it. I picked it up in January and have since spend $1000's on libraries because it's worth it (to me) - I love it and it has transformed the way I work and the sound quality I am able to achieve. Different strokes for different folks. We all have to remember that whatever we think of a tool it's just our opinion and the old adage YMMV applies.

Everybody has the freedom to be a Nebula fanboi... A handful are out there in the wild ...

Maybe I misunderstood and you weren't replying to plexuss in a mean spirited way but you sure came out as it.

Basically what I'm trying to say: You just agreed with Liero without understanding at all what he just said. You actually acted in the exact manner that he pointed out being a problem. You are just on the opposite side, the side "slamming" anybody who posts anything even slightly positive about nebula (like plexuss did). Are you truly this blind to your own writing/behavior? Or did I misunderstand your post after plexuss post? If this is the case, then I apologize.

Fanboy has become the new word to easily categorize people into "Us vs Them" groups.

I own both HG-2 and Nebula (+ Aqua plugins), does this make me a fanboy of either? I use both. I like both systems for their respective strengths (and I absolutely loathe the cumbersomeness that comes with Nebula/Aqua but it _is_ worth it to me in the situations I choose to use them).

Is it just me or has the word Fanboy been twisted so much lately that it's pretty much become useless and no longer represents what it originally was meant to mean (a fanatic of some sort). It's being thrown around on a lot of people who are clearly very open minded, articulate and non-fanatic like.. it's become a word that's a quick stab at anybody who has a differing opinion, no matter how rationally it was presented.

We live in polarizing times, that's for sure. Could somebody make up a word that is the exact opposite to fanboy? Fan-of-all-working-solutions-boy?

About "nebula friends": we have many customers, exactly like all other companies. They bought our products so they like them, exactly like customers of all other companies. At this point whatever positive opinion of whatever possible product should be rejected

Ahem. Does anybody have any cab sims that work on Nebula Free? Due to the chaos of moving preparations, I've lost track of backups, and you can't use Mercuriall Cab (which uses the same basic Volterra technology) on everything. TIA!

If you are talking about cab emulation, then try the ignite amp audio IR loader. IR's are readily available.

Nah, I want something more responsive than impulse convolution. IRs are fine if you play jazz or country, or something really heavy, but if you play something with actual dynamics you need something less static. It's like using IRs for reverb; it sounds authentic at first, but real spaces (not to mention plates, springs and so forth) interact, ya know? Or maybe sympathetic resonances or their lack thereof in piano samples.

Nebula cabs is more of a feeling thing when you play than the sound. It really feels that you're playing through a real amp without the flat and sterile feel of regular impulse responses. Amp sims are almost all about cab simulation, it is what defines each and every tone, I would say that is 70 % of it. I've been playing with amp simulation technology for 10+ years and have tried almost every amp sim software in the market (free and paid), their emulations all soud different to each other, for e.g. a JCM800 will sound different depending on the manufacturer, so this is a very subjective thing.

For me Nebula cabs is the Holy Grail of cab simulation, the only thing that I have tried that approximates to it is MAGIX VANDAL which has that real amp vibe, and this is a result of its technology (propietary Physical Modeling), even their cabs are modeled. IRs can sound good (and I have a massive collection of them) but they are static and sterile.

I'm now carrying out an extensive amp sim and cab testing, comparison and research (that's how I came across with this page) which includes several products, this to have a real opinion of all of them and make up my mind for the best ones and their combinations. I will be posting my conclusions.
