This definitely deserves a bump. A little goes a long way. Just purchased my copy.

Has anyone had any luck with Soothe on XP sp3? Yeah, fantastic vst. Demoed it today on a Windows 7 laptop, but my XP daw doesn't see it. I am aware Oeksound has it as Windows 7 and newer. Tempted to get it just to do premix work on the laptop, but an XP workaround might seal the deal.
Just a touch of EQ and a tickle of compression

Heads up guys, this is currently on sale (99 EUR instead of 149 EUR). I've been waiting for a sale for a while so picked it up right away :)

Post

This plugin adds way to much lag to use with my touch screen keyboard. Presonous shows it adds an additional 92ms.

Is there anybody else using soothe at 96Khz and having a huge CPU hit?
I use cubase 8.5 and windows and a 6 core Intel CPU. Soothe literally destroy my CPU.

Any help?

Post

Heck it destroys the CPU even at 44.1kHz here. I can only run a few instances of it until it kills my CPU.

I treat it as a "hardware" thing and just bounce stuff through it.

Been demoing it over 2 days ... wow, where has this been all my life ... too bad I missed the April sale. Hey, devs, I got a birthday coming up, just saying ...

I was actually looking for something like soothe around 5 years ago :) viewtopic.php?f=6&t=359522&p=5058249

...but back then, nothing like it really existed. I was so surprised/delighted when I realized that soothe is _exactly_ what I have been seeking all these years (not to mention that it's from my country of all places... go Finland!). Been using it a lot since I got it a few months ago, definitely a time and energy saver!

Post

It is for me easily the most exciting plug in the last 5 years.

It's funny how everyone is different ... I demoed Soothe and I can't justify the price. Especially with ToneBoosters Sibalance which is, in MY opinion, just as good if not better (for sure more versatile) and 1/7th of the price. It's also funny to see at GS these "waves" of hype coming and going. By the way, I'm not saying that Soothe is not good. It is very very good. But for that price (even when it's on "sale" ...), well, I'll stick with Sibalance.

Post

Sibalance is great, but are we talking apples and oranges? Soothe is far more than a de-Eseer

I am also demoing it and it is a must buy... I am getting results with it that I can't get with dynamic EQ, sideband or otherwise, dessers, deharshers etc... I am able to boosts the vocal levels and get them to sit with a lot less effort and with noticeably better results. Oustanding plugin... Damn I missed the April sale.

I never use Sibalance as a de-esser ... (in fact, it is NOT my favorite deesser).
Yes, the products are different. But their function CAN be similar (it depends on how you use Sibalance). Sibalance is far more versatile than just a de-esser. The way I see it, it can be used to tame those "peaks" that can be very annoying in the mid-high, or high frequency. A sort of a de-harsher, so to speak. With the advantage (huge ...) that you can discriminate between tonal and non-tonal sounds (amazingly useful). For that, it's very very effective. I think that Soothe more or less does something similar, right? To my ears, at least.

Hmm, interesting, I confess I never used or even knew you could use Sibalance that way, I only used it as a de-esser. Will have to look at that, thanbks for pointing it out. I can only say that even on its default settings, Soothe is just like instant .... aah. Pink liquid coating my ulcerous brain.
