Congrats to the top5 ; Carl_saved - Loris - Taron - Frostline - BobFish :tu:
You were all in my 5 points group except for Bob, sorry I had the wrong Bob.... :D

My apologies to EnergeticClayMan, your track came up empty in the voting playlist and I just moved the track to the 1 point group, I normally only give myself 1 point so sorry about that.( BTW I looked again and it still is not in the playlist ? )

As price I'd totally go for Synthmaster
Well deserved victory

What have you been doing differently the past few months, what sort of things do you think contributed to the victory?

Edited post because I rethought things
In the past time I worked especially on my mixing/mastering skills and how to create FX-sounds. I knew I was good on composition and instruments design, so I just tried to not loose them while focusing a bit more on the others. For the FX part, I listened to stuff from others, e.g. Jasinski, who do a lot of it, and tried to get some ideas what and how to. Also I tried to use the advice of some people around here. To mention a few: z.Prime, who suggested to sit down at the beginning and just create a lot of sounds before doing composition and arrangement stuff; henessey, who suggested to me to use less MIDI-feel, more dirty sounds; brainzistor with his HY-mono kick tutorial.

I think there are two approaches that can lead to good sounds:
  • "I want this sound - how can I get there?" challenges my skills and knowledge or forces me to experiment for a long time. In January, it often led me to layering ...
  • "Let's see what sounds this synth can create" lets me just experiment and play around with the synth. When I get a sound that I like, I create a duplicate of the synth to conserve the sound (and tweak it later) and continue the game. This is the origin of most of my FX sounds in January.
My most sincere advice would be to enjoy participating and not to be discouraged when things don't go as well as you hope. It's a matter of fact, that most of the time we will end up lower than we hoped for. We shall try the best we can, try to learn from others. But in the end it's the fun that counts ... and maybe the feeling that I have made the competition a bit harder for some people. :box:
... and that I have created another piece of music that I enjoy.

Again cheers everyone
And thanks to Hyakken for another fun little synthesizer!

Thank you everyone for the votes! Im really surprised with my finish. The song was inspired by a lot of ambient music that I have listened to over the years. Most of my OSC entries usually lean towards the harder genres of electronic music, however, what i listen to in my free time is completely the opposite. A lot of great entries as usual... and congrats to all the other top finishers. As per tradition, I humbly ask if I may be gifted the Diversion synth by Dmitry Sches.

I thank you OSC for always bringing great prizes and for the hard effort of the people behind the scenes who make this competition awesome every month for many years now, your efforts are frequently overlooked. Thank you prize donors who make the competition that much sweeter :) and to creators of the wonderful free software synths we use. Without you and the constant troubleshooting, software limitations and constant crashes, life would certainly be much easier but infinitely less entertaining. The ultimate gifts of course are the knowledge obtained from the creative struggle employed in an attempt to win these competitions and all the participants as they unselfishly reveal their production secrets enabling everyone to rise to higher standards of music production that we all so love. See you all in the next episode.

Congrats to Carl and the rest of the winners.

Congratulations Top 5 for well deserved recognition. :hail: And to the top 31 for making it another great listening and learning experience - you all rock. I love the variety of approaches and styles. :)

Also - Nice one Frostline for your first winning spot :hyper:

Thanks. I bet there is no one more shocked by that outcome than me
I still wonder if there was some error made, it all seems surreal.

Thank you to all who generously voted for my track.

And a huge debt of gratitude to those who took the time over the last few months to leave constructive comments and helped me improve my tracks (still a long way to go, so please continue suggesting what to improve). This contest is an amazing thing to be a part of.

I did not see where Taron picked or passed on a prize yet. I don't want to skip their turn so either Modelonia or that HY-SEQ16 would be excellent rewards to me depending on what Taron decides. I think I would be quite pleased with either one.

I also give permission for my track to be redistributed on whatever platform if the proceeds of that can help the OSC continue.

Thanks everyone.
