Right !?! I'm counting orders of magnitude this year, so far less than two, that is, I've spent less than $10^2. I'll probably get stuck at three for the year.stardustmedia wrote:I would never promise such a thing... I just try to count the days...

I just received a tempting email from Bitwig. "as you are one of our early adopters and a Bitwig 1.0 badge holder... you can upgrade to Bitwig Studio 2 for just 129 EUR / USD" Offer is good until April 15th. I'm thinking about using my wildcard. What should I do?el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Everybody still going strong?

There is always next year to join the support group.

Do what you need to do, but have no fear. Targeted advertising tries to make you feel special, or tries to give you "fear of losing out", amongst other things. Just be aware of it, and relax, be happy (with what you have if you can). Remember its about having fun, making music. At least it is for me.

As for support: Not sure what any of us can really offer. I'm certainly not going to tell you not to buy something that you really want, or that you'd find really useful, even if you already had used your wildcard. What if you held strong, and then we all caved by mid-May?
You have your own reasons for doing this, and it's up to you to work out how far you are willing to go to do what you set out to do. On one level it's just a bit of fun. On another, it could give quite profound results.
I'm glad we went with the wildcard option. It makes for an interesting twist. However, it only works if you hold it as an absolute ruling. Why go through the whole dilemma of choosing if you succumb to more deals later in the year.
I'm not trying to guilt you out. If you think you are going to be buying this at some point anyway, and will regret missing the saving, then it's a good use of your wildcard. It's not the first use of the wildcard we've had

I am doing ok after my mic purchase. A couple of things have caught my eyes (like I need a €1,600 Fender Princeton Reverb reissue
), but I am dealing with all the software deals coming into my email spam box.
BTW, the mic purchase is one I absolutely do not regret. €769 is a lot for a mic, but it jumped back up to €899 after my unit was sold. I don't know if I would've paid €900 for it.
It is a great mic. Very versatile, beautiful sound. Better than my other mics. It is getting me back into recording, which is a good thing.

That seems like a pretty good deal though. I mean the Princeton Reverb had a really nice balance between size and tone. I'm a super fan of smaller vintage amps. I have a 57 magnatone in the mother of barstool that was pretty much toast when I got it. Also, it had the much less desirable pentode preamp. So, I rebuilt it using a vintage fender design but keeping the original speaker and transformers. I added a modern twist, a reverb circuit from a fender blues junior. I really like it, it's my little blues amp. It only has three controls. Volume, Reverb, and a switch that selects three different preamp gain levels.Bombadil wrote:I am doing ok after my mic purchase. I used to have a lot more guitar gear but I'm kind of pared down to the magnatone and a somewhat modern fender DSP practice amp that my neighbor threw out. Took me about a half an hour to fix it, works fine, makes it easy to record guitar with the built in USB interface. I just tell reaper to use windows drivers and select different input and outputs and monitor with the amp. It's child's play to realign the track after the fact. But, I digress.
Are you sure that you don't need that amp?
