First of all, you should explain for the OP's benefit that you're talking monophonic v polyphonic- not mono v stereo (although most Reaktor ensembles/instruments are also mono before the FX/output, but I digress...)fmr wrote:Reaktor is NOT mono. If you like a certain block (or blocks), there's nothing stopping you from using them in a polyphonic instrument. Just copy the structure of that block into a new macro, and make your modules poly in their properties. Caveats- you need to go the macro route instead of the instrument framework that Blocks uses. The background images usually should be scrapped. And, the CPU usage of some of them run as polyphonic macros can get up there. But, it's an excellent source of new ideas and additions for your macro library.

For a beginner, I would say that all options are wrong.
Synthmaster One seems to be a good option to the OP.

Many of those sounds in the videos are not from subtractive synths, you might also try a rompler such as Air Xpand2, which is almost free by now. Or the good old Korg M1 or Wavestation.
And if you have money to burn, Omnisphere or Nexus

For a beginer I wouldn't recommend any of those.
Diva, Fabfilter Twin2 and Hive would be more friendly.

Reaktor is not for beginners, but it sounds like you're not the typical beginner.
So..... Reaktor it is.
If you were really a beginner, then I'd agree with sergiofrias - especially about Synth1.

As a beginner, if you mean what is "easy" for a new person to use, none of the synths you listed are easy. In fact, if we're talking about programming (not just opening up presets) none of them are "easy" if you're a beginner.
As a beginner, I'd get something like The Legend. It may be one of the easiest synths to program and the sound is amazing. You will learn a lot about synthesis with it. From there, you can move up to something a little more complex.

+1 for The Legend. You'll learn synthesis with the absolute best emulation for the king of all synthesizers, the Minimoog Model D. So easy to use and the sound is incredible. That said, out of the options, DUNE 2, by far.

To learn the basics (which won't take long) I think you need a single-page GUI and one oscillator. Lots of good free synths in that category.
