I have been mentioning the Korg PS series in several threads lately. Yesterday, I was surprised by the announcement made by UVI of a library launcvhing based on the Korg PS-3200.
So, despite their rarity, UVI seems to have been able to found one in good condition. It's not the same thing, but at least it's a start

I had a short chance to play with it last evening.
I found it certainly lives up to their PR; its pretty characterful and vintage. The UI is simple to navigate and many of the presets sounded very useful. Of course, I have no idea how close it is to the real thing. I've never even seen a real one in the flesh.

Well, it's probably as close as a sample library can be. Of course, the interesting thing of the PS series is the enormous amount of editing possibilities, and that's not present here.flametop wrote:I had a short chance to play with it last evening.

But shall conclude from your post that you liked the sound. Did you find it somehow different from other analog synth sampled libraries?

bought this tonight. i'm a total sucker for these UVI synths, even though (other than the samples) they're all pretty much exactly the same just with different GUIs. i'd love to pick up 'Vintage Vault' one of these days, i'm trying not to buy anything that's included in it (past 'Darklight IIx', my first UVI purchase) as i'm dead set on getting it eventually. even though the "synthesis" on these is rather limited (and a bit suspect, as i'm not sure what to think of the filters compared to the originals), what makes them really fun for me are the step modulator, LFO, and independent arpeggiators. you can come up with some really interesting stuff pretty quickly, and they're a joy to use.
just got done spending some time testing the UVS-3200. really happy with it overall, though i did notice a few "bugs/errors" in the default mapping of the samples. lots of character, some really impressive deep bass tones. not sure what else to say, great synth. definitely worth $49.
