if youre a 'jammer' at heart then at this moment in time id say live4 serves your purpose better ...
... having said that - jorgen is adding more and more 'live' features to energyXT all the time so if you can wait and also enjoy the odd bit of modular experimentation then energyXT might be the way to go (its - erm - a LITTLE cheaper than live4 too) ...
... try the demos ...
(not trying to push you in one direction or the other - i have and enjoy both apps - but am personally leaning more and more towards live at the moment)

Got my Live 4 copy today
Now the tragedy is that I've got to take the family off for a fortnight in France.
No music for two weeks ... boo hoo
Yup ... one jammer at heart here. It's hard to play the same thing twiceif you're a 'jammer' at heart then at this moment in time id say live4 serves your purpose better ...

My laptop is one of these 17 inch screen 3 point something gig monsters.
It weighs a ton. Did my back in carrying it the length of High Holborn.
Maybe I should take my bass guitar and amp away with me instead ... play to the dawn chorus. That'd keep the neighbours sweet
Naw ... seriously, a break for two weeks can come in any shape or form so long as I don't have to answer the phone.
And I'll have Live 4 to look forward to when I get back.
Toodle pip!

the box is in!
very nice ref man (nice stickies too...will stick some stickies on my laptop when i buy one).
download works like a charm...very smooth for the prickly types of post d&b i like...
looks like live 4 can take the place of cubase sx 2 or sonar 3 (cubase is becoming more like a mastering platform in my shop)...
anyone have a strong argument for having either of these along with live 4?
this weekend i'll find out how well fl studio and kinentic work inside l4...
