I was lookin at energyXT as a "different" approach to music making (from my SX2, Reason and FLS).
But now I'm also bitten by the Live hype
Basically I rarely (never ?) complete tracks in any of these because I'm a "jammer" at heart (and have 2 young kids !).
What are the main differences between Live and energyXT ?
How would they compliment each other ?
Woould either of these apps compliment Reason, FLS or SX2 ?
cheers

ill try again ...
... if youre a 'jammer' at heart then at this moment in time id say live4 serves your purpose better ...
... having said that - jorgen is adding more and more 'live' features to energyXT all the time so if you can wait and also enjoy the odd bit of modular experimentation then energyXT might be the way to go (its - erm - a LITTLE cheaper than live4 too) ...
... try the demos ...
(not trying to push you in one direction or the other - i have and enjoy both apps - but am personally leaning more and more towards live at the moment)

Hi,
I have energy XT and it compliments FLS very nicely. I haven't used the other hosts, but it can be used in them also.
I can avail of a 50% discount on Live4 and I tested the demo to see if it was for me. Although it is indeed a very cool application for audio, I was disappointed by the poor MIDI capabilities, especially since Live4 does not allow VSTs to output MIDI. There is a workaround, and energyXT does work in Live, but for the money I thought this limitation was silly.
Best to try the demos of both, see how they interact, and make up your own mind.

remember though ... that although this is live4 ... its only version 1 of their VST / MIDI implementation so i would imagine this limitation will addressed shortlydeSelby wrote:I was disappointed by the poor MIDI capabilities, especially since Live4 does not allow VSTs to output MIDI. Somethng as grating as a lack of VST in ReWire mode smacks to me of holding back for a paid update.pHz wrote:remember though ... that although this is live4 ... its only version 1 of their VST / MIDI implementation so i would imagine this limitation will addressed shortlydeSelby wrote:I was disappointed by the poor MIDI capabilities, especially since Live4 does not allow VSTs to output MIDI. Is MIDI so difficult to implement? Especially when the asking price is $499?pHz wrote:

XT is $39, is developed by one man (albeit a mad genius - Jorgen), is waaaay more flexible, and is subject to almost weekly updates.
Nuff said?
