Kontakt Filters with Sample Libraries

I've been tempted to buy some Synth Libraries for Kontakt, but what holds me back is the filtering process.
Is it that we essentially buy wonderfully sampled sounds that get filtered through Kontakt's (shitty) on board filters or are there other things or scripts going on ?

Quite unfocused question. You can always bypass filters. They ain't so shitty IMO. Likely there are other things or scripts going on, depending on library.

New filters in Kontakt 5 are pretty darn good.

I think they sound really clinical and boring, I usually turn them off from vintage synth sound libraries... Really spoils the sound IMO.

Old ones, yeah, I agree. New ones (SV, Ladder, AR, Daft), no.

I have to agree, Kontakt filters have come a long way over the years. I used to feel the same, "why would I buy vintage synth samples only to run them through a crappy digital filter," but Kontakt's filters have certainly gotten more musical, in my opinion.

Well that was harsh maybe. I recently got the whole Samples from Mars catalogue for example and been trying the sounds, I find that everything sounds better with the filters disabled. Of course any filter is usable, it's about the context.

I feel the same ! Disable the filters and running the sounds through Cytomic The Drop give me the best results.Taika-Kim wrote:Well that was harsh maybe. Soniccouture makes excellent use of the excellent filters in Kontakt 5. I don't know what filters this or the other vendor uses, but the filters and the implementation in eg., EP73 Deconstructed, Broken Wurli, Geosonics, Glass Works are wonderful.
