how about a progress/file indicator? Would be nice.
For now, just open up the directory it's downloading into, and watch the files show up. :P
That would be too simple for me :hihi: Thanks for this tip. 8)

Another question: If I have downloaded with your tool some tracks at some time while the competition is running and then want to download the remaining tracks when the submissions are finished, are then ALL tracks re-downloaded again, or only the new ones?

vurt - Silence

Nice track - I particularly like the extra 'Deep Silence' that comes in about 1:20 :)

It will download any new, missing, or updated tracks. It can detect updated tracks by checking the date stamp and file size for changes... perl's lwp module is nifty that way.

Thanks, garret. Now, that´s really a very nice application, thanks for sharing this with us. :)

Sheesh... a lot of these thingies to listen to...
  1. My cat's breath smells like cat food
  2. Nuisances Sonores - Um... [JohnCage]Well... it is sound...[/JohnCage] at 1:20 it gets some what more interesting, but on the whole it's too much randomness for me
  3. aMUSEd - Hmmm... weird, but I like it. Hollo indeed as a powerful voice, I think it's too dominant here though, it almost reduces the other sounds to just some background muzak
  4. AndrewSimon - The bass sounds out of tune, it seems. After 1:30 the rhythm sounds a bit like the drummer is struggling along, a bit strange... nice tune otherwise
  5. Patrick9 - I guess I'm just a born un-romantic. It's... well, it's OK, I just can't stand this stuff, sorry :(
  6. astanine - Oldskool elektro bleepage - sounds good, but as a song it misses something of a catchy melody line to make it really interesting
  7. RayS - well :? The idea of the rythm slayer sound is OK, but for ther rest it's not much of a song really, just the same thing over and over and over. I think it's got potential, but this way it's just a bit boring...
  8. Secretions - Nice EBMish track. I think that in the middle part the "L,R,R" vocal is a tad too, um, repetitive :D but overall there's enough variation, with good combination of sounds
  9. garret - I'd say "Gushy pop with a another bit of pop in there at the end" ;) I'd be happier with more of the "rock" bit and less "gushy", but it's definately a good song
  10. windchillFactor - Mix is not quite OK - the "lead voice" sounds boomy, and the other sounds aren't really distinguishable. Track is not uninteresting, but tiresome to listen to :(
  11. peppy197 - There's always this fine line between dissonant and off-key, but this one sure is on the good side. I love these ringing sounds with the somewhat Neubauten-like percussion, and could listen without catching Beaver Fever :-o Really sweet stuff, got more of this? And also, can I have my 5 cents now?
  12. Mo Verdigast - "reflects the current state of my mind" - is that disorientated? It's a bunch of lovely sounds, but there doesn't seem to be any coherence :(
  13. sttjelle - Except for the 1:10-1:40 part it sounds rather dull, that's probably partially due to the filtering effect, but also on the whole there aren't many bright sounds. Then again, that might be by design to make it sound more gloomy.
  14. wilkoryte - Generic blues thingy. In serious need of lyrics about chicks, booze and waking up this morning :P Sorry, doesn't do much for me.
  15. Tancos - *snicker* Ahem. Yeah. Don't think I can come up with something serious to say about this. But it's really cool, albeit a bit scary
  16. DrApostropheX - "Knock Me Up!" :-o I'd rather not! Really funky stuff tho Image Voice is a bit too loud, and I firmly believe that fade-outs suck
*disclaimer* don't take anything too seriously because I have no taste whatsoever.

Thanks! There's actually two or three distinct samples you might know - especially if you've ever liked proggy-spacey stuff from the 70s. The other stuff is so mashed up into the percussion that I doubt it's recognizable. The vocals are from a commercial that aired in the late 40's (other girls have jobs and war work too...) for a tempting product called Ironized Yeast. (Here's another great picture.)

War work, hmmmm...

Speaking of samples, I don't think I can guess all the Sleek songs in They Might Be Markleford's... I haven't been around long enough to have heard all of the originals.

Ok I'm off for the rest of the evening now, but can't keep vurt waiting for his review :D
(Dammit does anyone know a BBcode equivalent for <li value="61">?)
  1. pHz - Cool funky breaks, with a nice bunch of sound mangling - sounds like Meat Beat Manifesto. Kewl 8)
  2. RustedMonkey - Would have fitted nicely on HotM. Drums are bit too far in the background, vocal might have sounded clearer, it drowns a bit in the guitar sound
  3. Yagushi - Bizarre, but pleasantly so. Cute but very short ditty. Nice sound, only the intro is waaay to loud
  4. You™ - Why this song is called Casimir Funk? Maybe it's about attractive forces? It's an attractive funky piece at least. Might use a bit more variation
  5. vurt - Good interpretation. If you hadn't mentioned that it was made with only Delay Lama, I'd have sworn there were a bunch of samples from the original in it.
  6. jdickens - It's... a soundscapish thingy? I like the twinkly artefacts in the sound. I don't think I'll very often be in a mood to listen to this... too abstract to be a nice tune. Too bad the first half minute is barely audible
  7. sdunn1110 - It starts promising, but this is far to happy-sounding for a ghost story... less piano, more squeaking & screaming I'd say
  8. jens - Groovy! Cool sounds, good mix & buildup of the song... If you had just added 1 bpm it could've had a decent ending ;)
OK, now I've got a "shortlist" of 25 entries to sort out
