sampling standards and best practice

Is there some guide on the net for sampling best practice? I'm working on a couple of new sample libraries and I want to be sure it'll be perfect. For the first time, I'll go cross-platform and support Kontakt, Ableton Live and Reason. I need to make sample sets that will easily work across these different platforms. I struggle with plucked and acoustic sounds, electronic sounds are fine though.
