What's the point of a 25 or 1 cent donation for music/samples ???

I have published some kontakt libraries for free, pay what you want/donationware...
Many people donated and I am bot happy and thankful...really thankful!!!
But I am also receiving some 0.25$ or 0.01$ donation. PayPal commissions take everything so the total donation is ZERO, null, nada !
If you want to make PayPal richer, it's none of my business, but seriously, whwy are some people donating so little?
I mean, what's the point of a 1 cent donation, when you could simply donload it for free? Some will say that's "better than nothing"...but come on, 1 cent ??? (whcih becomes 0 after commissions) ???

People are really stupid, generally. I'm no exception. Well I am, sometimes, but in general... most of what I do is fantastically stupid.

They're trying to resolve their cognitive dissonance. That's probably the source of all Human wants.

I - as a fledgling product producer myself (in progress) - find myself gripped - afflicted! - by a conscience. So I imagine to the best of my ability what someone must have gone through to produce the product, and donate what I can spare. It's at least $5

0.01$ may be all they can afford. But the only thing they're really paying for is the temporary alleviation of their own mirror-neurons and resultant (partially) empathy-pains.

Here's the simple and more likely explanation. You have encountered people who have not yet realized that pay what you want can mean zero. So, they are putting in the lowest possible payment that they think will allow them to download the content.

I like what Bandcamp does with collections. If you want the purchased music to be in your collection, you have to donate at least $1.

I have a feeling any donation under $1 USD is an intentional insult. "Ha ha I paid for your stuff with a quarter!"

Just wait until one of those jokers forgets about his little joke, sees the charge on his PayPal statement and requests a chargeback...
