Looking to buy a decent (not too expensive) audio/midi interface for the ipad Pro 12.9.

Connection via Lightning connector and would prefer standard MIDI connectors and with Audio it is more audio out of the iPad rather than trying to record audio. So a simple stereo out interface (left/right jacks) would be fine.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Not sure what you're trying to do.

If you want to use the iPad as a sound module then this is worth considering

More conventional is this one

But you will need the camera usb connection dongle as well (the usb 3 version is best because you can power the iPad with it)

What are your power/battery life/mobility requirements? It's a major factor in picking an interface.

I only use an iPad Air but after looking I ended up using my old Mackie Spike (XD-2) with the newer Camera Connection Kit (with lightning connection for power). It works great for both audio & MIDI but requires at least 1 power outlet, 2 if charging the iPad.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

thanks guys, I want to avoid the CCK - As I said it is primarily for MIDI in, but I alos want to have audio (MP3) back tracks out to the FOH mixer but not using the headphones jack.

Maybe take a look at the iRig series. I have the original Pro which only has inputs for MIDI and audio. The new Duo model added outputs (1/4" balanced for audio). The cheaper iRig Pro I/O also has outputs but only headphone jack for audio.

The iConnectivity stuff is very good.

Don't ask me, I just play here.

The IK duo looks good. Not what I would call inexpensive but of course that's relative.

Another option might be yamahas Bluetooth midi and line 6 sonic port.

thanks, I'll check those out :tu:

again thanks, but Line 6 has no midi, Yamaha has no audio and the IK stuff has no standard midi ports - haha all of which I specified in the OP. But they all look like good bits of kit, just not what I am after.

However the Yamaha has standard midi ports and works over Bluetooth leaving the lightning port free for the line 6 which has audio in and out the idea being to buy both which should be doable for around £100ish.

Note that I recommended AND not OR :)

The IK stuff has standard midi ports the cable you plug in has a female 5pin din socket at the other end.

well it's splitting hairs to say it has standard MIDI poorts at the end of a thin cable with a mini-jack on it ;) and I didn't want bluetooth. So no it is not what I wa after.

If you're not prepared to use midi breakout cables then you're looking for a regular audio interface but with lightning. The only one I know of is the iConnectivity iConnectAUDIO2+ (or 4+ if you want more I/O). The rest will all be standard usb.
