Haven't seen that one passing by in the forums yet... (if it did, my bad! Been away since a week)

Litote is a granular audio effect plugin which can turn any sound into a dramatic texture. Four audio engines can be combined using a XY pad for a wide range of variations. Hiding the complexity of the engines, Litote delegates patch creation to a smart randomizer for instant gratification and endless possibilities.

For perpetually evolving sounds, Litote also includes a trajectory mode to travel through these granular landscapes automatically.

With deep sonic possibilities hidden behind a playful and easy to use interface, Litote is an essential tool for musicians and sound designers.

Seems a lot like The Mangle..

The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious ; it is the
fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science.

Not at all, very different. I have The Mangle and I'm trying Litote since a day now and beside granular synthesis there's not much in common really. The Mangle is an instrument loading samples while Litote is an effect processing real time incoming audio. Litote is much more experimental, using chaos and randomness to create new sounds while Mangle is more like a classic granular synth with common parameters. Very different.

Midi learn would be nice so I can assign it to my joystick (at the moment having to do this per host)

tbh I would prefer a version with so much not hidden away - finding it hard to get really huge variations from this, it can sound great but without control it is literally a hit and miss affair

Totally agree, it's a happy accident type of device.

Post

totally agree with amused, I bought and I'm a bit underwhelmed about the possibilities tbh...
I thought it was going to be more versatile too

I usually buy Ineardisplay blindly but not this one, needs more exposed control

Post

I like it, don't mind the lack of fine control, but I wish I could turn on/off each part of the "engine" (described as a "mix of Granulators, Resonators and Diffusion Delays"), especially the Diffusion Delays.

I bought it blindly, I like it, but do find that it works better in conjunction
with other effects (the likes of Sandman Pro etc). On its own, its not super interesting,
and some of the controls are not particularly intuitive.

Yes I agree. It sounds a bit rough and unpolished by itself. But with a huge reverb next to it, this is when things get crazy and interesting. I experimented a lot with Zynaptiq Adaptiverb placed next to Litote and you really can get some huge, ethereal non stop evolving soundscapes. Really cool stuff. It really excels with a humongous reverb placed right after it.

Great as a distant backround evolving texture on pads. Put 3 or 4 and then automate the bypass and mix parameters.

+1 I would gladly pay extra to have access to at least the main bits of the engine (also for inear display to change their knob and slider behavior so that all the useful bits aren't in 1/5 of the range). Their stuff does sound good though. I may pass on this one for now. I've already built a completely random granulator in Reaktor, and I'm content using that when I wanna just press record and see what I get out of it.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.
