Mixbus 4?

I also got that mail offer to upgrade from 3.x to 4 for $39, so I did.
Problem is that I can't install the damn software (I'm on Windows 7 x64), it gets stuck with the error message "Extract: error writing to file GeneralUser_LV2.sf2" and the setup refuses to go any further from there.
Guess I'll have to wait for an update with a working setup/installer file...
I only use Mixbus (and Mixbus 32C) for import, mixing and export of .wav files, since I've found the Ardour DAW part to be extremely buggy on every machine I've tried to run it on. Sad story, when the actual Mixbus DSP part is so great.

No. For me it's like, upgrade and maybe they'll have everything fixed from the previous version. Then someone like Sailor16 posts and says he can't even get the installer to work.
One thing that confuses me about Harrison is that they promote themselves as being High End. Even the marketing of Mixbus has that air about it. According to one video I saw, in v4 you'll find these cheap ass soundfonts that can be readily downloaded for free from the internet. Not exactly High End in reality. I'll probably trigger a few fans by saying that but anyway.
I'm tempted in a way because it looks so beautiful but I just know that it would be a waste of money for me.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Version 2 was the last time it looked beautiful imo. Makes a difference to me - can change the feel of an app when it's appearance changes so drastically (from V2 to V3).Aloysius wrote:I'm tempted in a way because it looks so beautiful but I just know that it would be a waste of money for me.

The installer file is already marked to be run as admin per default. But yeah, I tried it manually as well with no luck. I've sent an e-mail to Harrison support regarding this issue.UltraJv wrote:have you tried right click on install and select install as admin?

The DSP coding stuff is high end, no doubt about that. That is, the actual Mixbus part is great. I own 1/3 of the DAWs on the market and consider Mixbus to actually offer something "different" in regard to actual mixing. However, the open source Ardour part seems to be the one spoiling the party for most people. But luckily for me I don't need or use most of the DAW features. In fact, I'd be perfectly happy just to have .wav import, the mixer and export. Without any bugs, of courseAloysius wrote:No. For me it's like, upgrade and maybe they'll have everything fixed from the previous version. If you have not used Mixbus 2, you are unlikely to use Mixbus 4bharris22 wrote:Anyone try this yet? I am thinking of taking the plunge for $39 (I have Mixbus 2, but haven't really used it).

I wonder what's happening with Harrison/Yamaha/Steinberg? Since this announcement I ain't heard nuthin...

And, yes, I am going to upgrade. I sometimes use Mixbus for, um, mixing. Does sound nice!

That's just a new General Midi soundfont they're using, likely over 100 meg,Sailor16 wrote: "Extract: error writing to file GeneralUser_LV2.sf2" and the setup refuses to go any further from there.
not some technicality or weird path vagueness, I'd try a fresh download of the installer.
Good luck

Not true. I have more time now than I did when I purchased Mixbus 2, and 4 seems to have more features than 2 did (midi, for one, as well as a ProTools import function).pdxindy wrote:If you have not used Mixbus 2, you are unlikely to use Mixbus 4bharris22 wrote:Anyone try this yet? $39 for a host is a steal .... If you are just tracking audio it's a steal .... Mixbus has some mojo going on with the whole console sound .. Even if you do use another host , it still be great as a 2nd host for mixing down , it'd compliment a Bitwig , Live ,or Renoise type of host . Or even a Cubase , Reaper type too ...Just mainly for the mixing capabilities ... I think it's cool that they've included the drum LV2 and soundfonts from the AVlinux guys even if they are free... They are good people ...
