Ableton Mac vs PC

I'm sure this old debate has been going for a while but I just wanted to ask you PC users out there how Ableton is on the PC?

Apples lack of progress or care on the "Pro" department over the last few years has been edging me to switch over to Windows 10 with a custom PC build. I've been using Ableton on Mac with Audio Units and its super stable, rarely crashes and works great.

How well does Ableton perform on PC with VSTs? I've heard from a few friends they get random crashes here and there from something as silly as moving midi blocks around. At the same time from others I've heard it's solid. I've heard there's a few differences especially with emphasis on the quality of your audio interface drivers on PC too?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Live hasn't crashed on me since the 9.5 update.

It's solid for me on both platfoms (mac/pc). I've always had good asio drivers for pc also.
Stuck in Aperture Laboratories for a 2nd time!

There are only two choices.
Ableton on Mac or Bitwig on Win.
? Ow? Never had a single issue on win with ableton since 8...

Install ASIO drivers for PC, problem solved. Of course if you fail to do that and pick bad interface, there might be problems - but it depends on user :hihi:

All in all, to use PC, you need to know how to. Mac is for people who don't want to handle guts themselves - but there are no benefits from it, either.
Ableton is very unstable on PC.
Nonsense.

Ableton Live 9 is very stable for me on windows 10.

And yes, good asio drivers are very important in windows for good performance, If you can afford it get a RME interface, best drivers on the business.

Live is very stable for me on Windows 10 - 64 bit host and os.

I couldn't agree less ... Live 9 is solid as a rock on my 64 bit WIN 8.1 setup (i7 quad core, 24GB RAM, SSD). As was Live 6, 7 and 8 (once they fixed it) on my XP system.

Ableton Live 9 is extremely stable on Windows 10. I have to give them big credit for that, if nothing else.

Ableton live 9 and Windows 10 here. As stable as I could ever hope for.

Bizarre, but as of 9.5 on Windowoes 8 Live is doing great for me. It's Reaper which keeps crashing :o

MOTU drivers are also very solid.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

MOTU may be good with interfaces on Windows,
but perhaps they can be considered to perform better on Mac.
Digital Performer's almost inability to run on Win10 has made me cautious of them on Windows.

However I want to get DP as soon as I can to run on Mac.

I only hear good things about RME too.

Yeah- Steinberg ASIO is our protocol. I don't have high end cards or systems and can run a buffer of 128 or 256 usually @ 44.1k 16
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

BS.

Using Ableton / Win 7 / Focusrite Saffire for ~1.5 years or so and it's super stable.
Murderous duck!
