-What i don't understand: The decay/release says 10sec but it is ~4sec. (~15 sec is normal in other synths..or more)

-Then the sequencers don't have an option to shift the start position. (no option to change the start-position or LR shift)
- Seqs do not have a trigger option. (?!) --
Imo trigger-wise it makes no difference between an LFO, envelope and seq: Let it run free or sync (also to song-position->missing) and then you maybe want to trigger it poly or mono. .. Why not?

Idea:
Vintage Envelope shapes as presets. (shapes from other synths)

no, when it says 10, it are 10. Thats the time until the voice reachs really zero (noisefloor). Depending on your curve, it can be hardly audible, but its still active

Shouldn't it be until it reaches -60dB? What is the point in the synth voice running for another 6 seconds, calculating inaudible data?

+1

its not inaudible. Using a compressor fx makes it well audible again. Better design with your ears, not numbers.

btw in the new Computer Music Issue (April) there is a big sound design special with Avenger + and an Interview with me for tipps and tricks

After the hype I'd have liked to test it but unfortunately it doesn't load (Cubase, Win10). The cpu shoots up but the editor does not open. Cubase freezes then and I have to kill it with the task manager. On the machine of my friend it loads but is slow as hell (cpu about 90% and not more than 3 to 5 fps even in standby). Somewhere in this thread I found Avenger is only optimized for Cubase. Could it be it is also optimized just for intel cpu & nvidia graphics? My system has a AMD FX-8370E cpu and Radeon RX 480 graphics card. My friends graphics card is nvidia but amd cpu too.

Never had such problems with other plugins :scared:

I know they are two different products, but here I leave a comparative video between Avenger and Serum.

What a strange reaction. If an envelope isn't hearable after 5 seconds, but the envelope has a length of 10 seconds, you tell us to bring the sound up with a comp??

I would rather see an extended envelope (i.e. 25 seconds), without having to use a mod env or something else.....

Simply put the maximum release curve to the maximum and problem solved.

I don't like that curve at all..
I am using the mod env's at the moment, but that is far from ideal with such a synth.

-60dB is not even remotely enough. Try this: Insert a -60dB saw wave at 100Hz into any of your mixes, then do some mastering on it.

To make it even worse.. chop it up so that it turns on and off. On and off.

How on earth do you guys read so badly.. I guess reading comprehension is at an all time low. Please check what he ACTUALLY said.

Or am I right in assuming English isn't your native tongue (or 2nd or 3rd?)? If so, then I apologize for my attitude.

He said when using a compressor the signal will be audible again. In this context it sounded a bit like a advise to me too.

Post

No, he said that -60dB is NOT at all an adequate cutoff point for an oscillator/envelope and he then proceeded to explain WHY that is.. for instance if using a compressor, which will naturally drag up the audible range/noise floor, thus making the "cutoff point" become easily audible.
