Award winning - yea..really?

IMO - When developers say their product(s) are award winning without providing any references, whatsoever, there's some inflation on their credibility.

No - because I don't want to turn this trhead into something that'll look like an accusation against anyone spesific.
That said, it doesn't mean you can't find them on a search with your favorite search engine.

I always read that as "we invented an award and gave it to ourselves" unless they specify otherwise.

Just googled "award winning vst plugin" and it says 273.000 results. No idea which is fake or real, no time to investigate any, let alone all! So that's finding a needle in a hay stack

Do you mean companies who say their software is award winning without providing reference to those said awards?
Or are we talking about something else?
I think quite a few developers consider the "awards" they receive apart of having their plugins reviewed in magazines, to be awards in addition to those that receive trade show awards, and annual user/magazine voted awards such as the ones held by Sound on Sound magazine.
There are no major awards with equivalency to the Emmys and Oscars, but it doesn't mean that they are not factually correct when they say award winning.
With that said... they really should provide references so as consumers we don't have to take them at their word (especially in this era of willfully telling lies... Oops, I mean "alternative facts").
