I guess a drum kit not being hit very hard, close miked, and maybe tuned higher than rock drummers tend to tune. Try looking at some jazzy kits, especially ones that include not just sticks but also rods - if you play non-jazz patterns on them it would probably sound very close. Lots of velocity layers (so it'll still sound responsive even if you keep the velocities low) and rods or mallets would be good options to have.

No kit I have fits the bill quite 100%, but Rattly And Raw Martin France Drums or Drumdrops Modern Folk Rock Kit could do this kind of sound well. I'm sure Toontrack have some jazz or indie rock kits that would work.
