Hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I figured out the issue, and you're going to LOVE this one.

I adjusted the color depth on my monitor to force SimCity 3000 to run in a window on this machine, then just forgot about it. I was thinking back about what I'd changed, suddenly remembered the color depth fix, set it back to 32-bit and.. no more crashing to desktop! Old projects load fine once again.

I'll crab about no error message, though, but at least I'm running again.

I tell you, I get all the weird shit...

I just emailed Yan at SoundMorph about a bug I found with Logic and told him about your bug too. Glad you found the problem. pretty obscure! Thing about music software is sometimes you end up with something you don't use much. Just consider it part of the fun. This is why I prefer software I can transfer licenses and as inexpensive as possible. I was happy to hear Dust can be transferred with no fee... just in case!

I never get normal bugs, but I guess being a software engineer causes me to find the strange stuff..

I'm going totake a shot at programming a preset this weekend, since I do a lot of ambient/dark ambient/soundscape I should be able to get Dust to produce some broken, evil noises...

Initially I was a bit intimidated by Dust. But on digging in, it's pretty easy and very controllable if you want to put in the effort. First read the manual. Then start with an init patch and start working with an emitter. What I do is set it to trigger on midi and set the sequencer to trigger it slowly. then load in a sample and move Position to 0 and start bringing up Length. That starts making it obvious. Then start working with an effector.

I picked this up recently, it's the kind of thing that's right up my street. It's awesome, but, that's not the reason for my post. I had a pretty specific support request, the details of which aren't important, however, I have to say that I came away rather impressed with the response from SoundMorph.

They definitely delivered support that went above what you might typically expect and was certainly not something that they were obligated to do.

tnx SoundMorph!

+1 would buy again!

The V1.0 version works in stereo but the latest update is still not working in stereo in cubase... it's been nearly 3 months. Devs you are starting to take the piss with your radio silence and lack of updates.

thanks for the free sample pack.. which I'll probably never use. but it's better than nothing I guess.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll do that,al I got out of Dut this weekend was a headache. Seems worth the fight, though.

Totally correct post - thank you. I use Nuendo 7.1.30 and Cubase 9.0.10 and think hearing all in centered mono with Dust is somewhat boring.

I also experience this bug. It works fine in Reaper though, so it's not really a problem for me as that's where I tend to use this sort of thing.

I have BlueCat Patchwork and can use the AU version because I use OSX. But this is just ... "patch work" - the VST version should simply work and I find it disturbing there is no fix after months.

Post

So I asked SoundMorph about the Cubase fix via support and they confirmed they have fixed this already and working towards a new release in the next two weeks, fixing other issues too. Support answered within a few hours - a good sign.

I'm still waiting for the FX version for live audio input. I hope soon.
Then it will go into my hall of fame FX together with Kaleidoscope, B2 and Replika XT.

I have Dust but found a problem that prevents me from using it: on the mac AU version, in Logic, if I switch project sample rates Dust sounds different. My workflow is to work in 44k until a master bounce in which case I switch to 96k.

It's surprising to me how many plugin devs don't pay attention to their software performance at different sample rates. The typical issue is that sounds play at different pitches etc. This is such a basic thing to check in UAT but I find so many that don't work correctly. These days I need the demo to check this before I buy anything because if it doesn't sound the same at different sample rates the product is usually useless to me.

Hopefully they are going to fix this for the update.

While i´m waiting for the FX version (c´mon!) i experiment a bit creating textures, soundscapes with Dust.
Here is one patch where i loaded a whole track i made into 3 emitters with different settings, modulations etc.
I triggered it via manual midi note input. Played just a few "chords" here. https://soundcloud.com/user-790535032/d ... res-demo-1
Here i just replaced the sound source and played the same midi notes:
https://soundcloud.com/user-790535032/d ... res-demo-2
And here again the same patch. This time i just replaced the sound source with some of the default ones. Each of the 3 used emitters gets another sound source here:

Enough for now...... :D

Hello!

So, after near 5 months of ‘we promise it’s coming soon’, still:
-no demo?
-no FX version!?

:?
