ThePresent wrote:thiagoam88- You have too much reverb on snare, also please less reverb on toms. You got a nice intro guitarsound,I like the panning and space! For the 2nd verse: please keep the ringing cymbals/copper in check a little more.
You mixed nice levels between guitars and keys and got a nice separation and space in ending. A bit darker mix this is, compared to all others, which isn't a bad thing, don't get me wrong please..
Thanks for choosing my mix!

For the second round I brought all the snare and toms reverb down (expect the snare on the intro for impact/bigness), and tamed the cymbals, as suggested. Also revisited the drums' dynamics with automation.

I usually also perceive my mix as darker them most mixes on the challenge but that's how I like them to sound, otherwise they turn out overly bright and harsh. When referencing to other music, I don't find it that dark anymore :D

Oh yeah... I didn't update the direct link to the thread on KVR yet.
Sorry about that - will do that ASAP.

EDIT:
Fixed the link, and realized in the process that something got messed up with the timer. All is fixed now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@Dave:
But you got the Tweets though, right?

Listening to the second round mixes, I couldn't help thinking about some mixes "why didn't these guys do anything with my feedback?", only to find out I wasn't listening to the second round but to the first submissions!

Well after swapping some files I got the following results, 1st to 6th place:
(I listened for balance, first and foremost, details are described below the list).

1. MORK
2. thiagoam88
3. vasdim
4. mwaudioprod
5. photonic
6. Dave McIsaac

MORK - guitars and Snare are now nicely in balance, you made your mix better. Ending keyboard solo really stands up nice against the guitar and drums. You made it sound like Steve Porcaro jammed along, haha. I love the sounds of the reverbs/delays, really fitting the song.

thiagoam88 - nice dried up mix, nice snare you got in the ensemble parts. I really like the punchy sound you gave the toms, bouncing in my speakers.

Vasdim - nice aggressive mix, a bit on the treble side. You put some room and restraint on the drumkit like I asked, which makes it all better. Love the snare :)

mwaudiprod- the guitar is louder, but now seems to push away the keyboards a bit. Tomfills sound a little less impressive compared to the other ones. Like what you did with cymbals, can hear them well without overwhelming. A tight mix you got.

Photonic - lead guitar is wider but still a bit under a blanket, don't know what to say about. Bottom is impressive, comparing to the others even a bit too much. Mids are under influence of the guitar sound, somehow it sounds less open than other contenders. But I have to admit, this soundscape makes the ending divebomb roar!

DavemcIsaac - the first guitar scream before the band kicks in somehow rips my right ear, the echo is doing something, I don't know, tearing my eardrum?
You got the snare right, drumfills are better now but stil om the boomy side, nice room sound on the kit. You made the whole mix sound fuller anyway.

Thanks again you all for mixing my tune!
