in a song,

https://xoxos.bandcamp.com/track/the-art-of-noise

forgive the lyrics, the form detracts from the song-ness, but some audiences don't abstract as well as others :)

hey, that girl is cool
she wants to be with you
you want to be with her

now, what do you know?
she's looking straight at you
you want to be with that girl

so you're right,
right at the scene of the rhyme
tell me is your love mine?
your love is mine

oh! she's taking off her clothes
and her artificial nose
her artificial knows

wow, i'm glad this is just pretend
where is your innocence?
tell me, where is your inner sense?

right, right at the scene of the rhyme
tell me, is your love mine?
your love is mine

right, right at the scene of the rhyme
tell me, is your love mine?
your love is mine

this song, is from my album "payola" :)

What you reference is most likely, one of the best things in this awful existence.
Your reference to it as "bad things" is very misguided...I assure you.
It is an experience that can change a persons life forever, for better or worse.
It was a hasty late-night reply. It's from the song Ashes To Ashes. I should have included the others words:

I've never done good things, I've never done bad things, I've never done anything out of the blue.

I don't think I even care about it that much because, for selfish reason, I presume my classic rock collection would be so much smaller if I go by that. I have to double check but I think I read somewhere that the entire band Pink Floyd stopped taking drugs (or was it just Roger Waters) and most other bands did too and most also stopped? It's just that those articles about overdose and brain damage (from other drugs, besides LSD) was/is scary. Look what it did to Syd Barrett. Some people have the guts (and the money) to do it. I just don't. I just don't see the "better". I just see the worse, in that case at least. Could one be a pessimist and an optomist at the same time? One is an optimist if one looks forward to waking up in the morning, right?

@ xoxos. If I ever get good enough at writing music, can I use your lyrics above and turn it into classic rock or (blasphemy) pop?

yap, only losers experiment with aesthetic modulation. winners listen to mass media and want to talk incessantly about what a great life choice it is for everyone because we need consensus on this right.

oh,you posted - that's cool. we're hoping, someday you'll get good at reading posts too!

Oh man, again, what happened? I always seem to offend you. Never the intent. And my crime is the desire to not exclude pop music and to defend it?

I've only had two names here at KVR. The other one is harryupscrabble. I couldn't log in one day anymore and so I registered this one. I have no idea who this sHush entity is. I don't think I've ever seen a post by him/her.

I guess some people think alike. I mean, you know, for example, you try to register a name thinking it's original but when you Google it, thousands, even millions maybe, have already thought of it? Like, once I tried to register myself at YouTube or ISC with the name Om Rand and of course it's taken. It happens a lot when choosing a title for a song too.

So, what was this sHush like? I hope he wasn't a Peter or a Dick. I really don't want to offend my fellow/ess music-makers and music tool creators, etc. Sincerely.

I can honestly say I've never had that problem.

Yes and no. No, because I already know everyone is not exactly like me. Not even my identical twin could be? Yes, because I want to understand others and to just be aware and be informed... about the Beatles thing. It was puzzling. I was curious. So yes I guess you are half right.

Okay I'm off to play speed scrabble. In scrabbleland the mainstream is slow scrabble. Too bad for us few speed players.

It's hard to imagine something less relevant to my music tastes than Beatles. And despite I may nevertheless enjoy many music which is equally "not relevant" this is not the case with Beatles. Some of their songs I find mildly annoying (though there are tons of much more annoying music) but mostly they evoke no emotional response in me whatsoever.

... except hate. Because remember, you are a hater if you'd don't worship The Beatles.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

That's really interesting and puzzling. Is it because Beatles music is totally lacking in emotions? I'm trying to think of bands that are super emotional. Emo bands maybe. How about the Cure? How about some of David Bowie's songs, Heroes maybe? What bands do you find are full of emotions? I'm trying to understand. Oh wait, I just realized it might not be necessary for bands to be emotional to get emotional response from the listener. Depends on the listener. Subjective. Various subjects, various responses. I guess I knew it all along. I just wanted details.

Okay so here's what I've learned or maybe even mistook from this thread so far:

Band's politics or lack of it matters to some people.
Hippies are hypocrites. Okay, I don't actually know for sure if the was mentioned. Too lazy to recheck.
Annoying voice distracts, but strange, my sister just loves John Lennon's voice, she must have high tolerance for that.
The Beatles musical abilities are overrated (and underrated too?).
One's parent's taste in music might not become one's own. Probably the norm?
There are those among us who thinks that life is but a joke. I can relate.
It would be weird to like a band's entire catalogue of songs. That would be fanaticsm.
Paul McCartney's "classical" talents might be bogus. It's actually George Martin that's responsible for the Beatle's extra ooomph.
Replies could be taken the wrong way.
Eyes might be partially closed, misunderstanding the hard to see. My own eyes for two.
For some people it's natural and right to not like the Beatles and pop music in general.
Some people can admit that they like the Beatles.
It's not fair to compare the Beatles to Elvis.
KVR is not totally about songwriting (doh).
I have to feed the cat.

No, I mean their music doesn't evoke any emontions in me, not that it is lacking in emotions per se. That's two different things.

I'm not into rock/pop at all. Among the most well-known bands I can name only Depeche Mode as somehow interesting to me. Though sometimes I get some kicks from the music I wouldn't expect that I may like or even tolerate, it may be Shakira or some Russian pop or I don't know whatever else. But generally 95% of the time I'm listening to pure synth music with very little or no vocals.
