I've also toyed with the idea of getting a T-Rex Replicator or a Fulltone, but obviously they're in a *slightly* different price range.
Holy crap, teh Fulltone Tube Tape Echo is $1600US? I paid $600 for mine. It's the white vinyl version with the stainless top. Back in the day I used real Echoplexes and the RE201. Outer Space really does sound like an RE-201 but I used to have crappy tapes so I am used to more mangled sound. I couldn't afford tape cartridges so I'd roll-my-own using old 1/4" tape. Later I got into winding Ampex 456 onto them and that made a huge difference. and keeping the heads clean and demaged.

Speaking of which - that would be a great feature: adjustable amount of head dirt and magnetization! Those were real-world aspects of tape echos. Also, the mechanical sound of it. I don't know of a tape echo plugin that lets you dial in the mechanical noise of the machines. You couldn't hear it in the output but you could hear all the time when working with the machine. oh and like the softtube, a "shake" for the spring reverb. if a tape echo/reverb had these features it would be a complete emulation.
And a random, occasional tape break to make life more exciting? ;-)
And an adjustable frequency of tape splices going by the heads.

And a variable amount of print-through, where audio on the layers adjacent to the playing layer imprint their magnetic signal at a low level such that you can hear different parts of what is on the tape at different places. annoying, but realistic.

PM me what you want to hear and I can upload some audio demos for you?
As far as i know we're at release candidate (minus a tiny few tweaks :P ), so i'm sure v1 (and demo) is just around the corner.

We'll focus on this in a future update.
Added layers of abstraction is a definite trade-off for emulating such a well-known user interface. However, please consider a drop-down pane, such as they have in Soundtoys, Klanghelm, and Logic pro plugins. That way, we can tweak settings from both parts at the same time.

Also, will all controls, including those from the extra panel, be midi-learnable?

Also, I wonder if it's possible to implement some kind of manual tape manipulation (as in literally handling the tape, or heads, B.O.C style). Would be great to be able to assign a control to a macro that emulates this kind of manipulation e.g modwheel to control depth and speed of manual tomfoolery. The 'Melt' control in Psychic Modulation's 'Phonec2' can kinda function like this i.e various parameters can be set/balanced, then controlled by the 'melt' macro :tu:

There are a few demos on the previous thread (made with the beta version): http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 0#p6702839
Don't worry, we'll post new audio/video demo soon. Release should be between Wednesday and Thursday, with a short intro price (same as the current price for Outer Verb).

Thanks for the suggestion. For now the panel is just an idea for a future update, we'll consider a drop-down version for sure.
All controls that will be added to the GUI will be midi-learnable/automatable etc...

As usual, we'll collect all feedback/requests after the release for possible updates.

Self oscillation tests, running through the various tape types and oversampling options. Automation is virtually the same for all tapes and oversampling options. Some compression and limiting has been applied to all files (the Glue and Nugen Audio ISL2)... the OLD tape type requires slightly higher intensity settings and a tad more compression ;)

had to use a noise setting of 1% just to get the juice flowing ;)

each file runs through the oversampling options with HD activated...
a) OS x 16 b) OS x 8 c) OS x 4 d) OS x 2 e) OS off ...then... f) OS off HD off

Well, we are still waiting for some feedba...nevermind :ud:
I'm certainly looking forward to having a new toy for the coming spring.

I wound up buying the whole plugin bundle the other week as there was some other stuff in there I was interested in. The vinyl plugin in particular, but the standout to me is Frostbite, to my surprise. It's fun mashing 'random' and turning a SFX I recorded and hated into something much more interesting. Thanks!

Well, it includes a spring reverb after all… ;-)

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.
