Are you using Bidule as a VSTi in Live?Schmidi wrote:Well, I was on Ableton Live for studio and performance. Love the features, but the stability or seemingly random lack of can really detract from my creativity.
Luckily, I discovered and dove into learning the basics of Plogue Bidule. This is now my go to stage tool. It has been bullet proof so far!
I plan on making sounds and beats in Ableton and performing with custom Bidule environments.
Anyone jumped ship / switched DAW this year?

I suppose I will at some point, but currently I'm gearing up for a live performance and needed a stable platform to work in. I'm doing ITB live PA, so its been a lot of trial and error to find a working setup.

Got T6 license sitting on my account, just not a fan of whole thing, so only way I would actually force myself into it again is if I got Waveform license for free, which will never happen, so yeah, that's out for sure.Kalamata Kid wrote: Waveform aka T8 $100 will be released shortly.

Mixcraft 8 $89 was just released

Tried 7, tried 8, just not my cup of tea unfortunately.
Yeah, don't care about that either.I am looking at both of these as they have ARA
for Melodyne.
Thanks for suggestions and taking your time to respond, already went trough demoing almost everything that is under the sun and found Bitwig to be best fit for my workflow, but not my wallet, on other hand was blown away by Jo from MuTools, but unfortunately, not with his MuLab.
For time being gonna give Cubase fair shot and if that fails, gonna get me some cheap second hand Mac and continue to use Logic 9, still delivers.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

Taking your comments on Studio One in other threads, i figure that won't be an alternative for you as well. Shame, as that's usually the first thing i'd recommend to go for, if you liked Cubase.Zexila wrote:Got T6 license sitting on my account, just not a fan of whole thing, so only way I would actually force myself into it again is if I got Waveform license for free, which will never happen, so yeah, that's out for sure.Kalamata Kid wrote: Waveform aka T8 $100 will be released shortly.

And, yes, i know, its performance sucks the biggest ass on the planet, and i'm a complete devil for using, and recommending it anyway, and claiming it isn't as worse as it's being made. Hope you can bear with me, heh.

Cubase Artist 9 is fantastic. It has excellent synths and drums. IMO, it's the best choice for someone comes from Mac/Logic to Windows, otherwise I agree with you, a second hand with your Logic 9 is more than greatZexila wrote:For time being gonna give Cubase fair shot and if that fails, gonna get me some cheap second hand Mac and continue to use Logic 9, still delivers.

Tried S1 v2 before and v3 recently, but the way that company deals with issues is disappointing and really find their version of S1 that loads 3rd party plugins pricey, they are on my blacklist with Cakewalk, would never invest a dime in company that deals with issues like that.chk071 wrote:Taking your comments on Studio One in other threads, i figure that won't be an alternative for you as well. Got 5 LE on my account and friend is giving me another one he got with his Zoom (think it's 8 LE/AI or whatever is called), so gonna try to work my way on that versions and if I hit the wall and fall in love with Cubase, than gonna plan updating further.
Thanks bud.

Gotta say that I like Presonus a lot!
And just when I thought I might sell S1 again, I got this in my email:
"Your free StudioMagic Plug-in Suite is already in your my.presonus.com account"
and in details:
-Lexicon MPX-i and Eventide 2016 Stereo Room: Two excellent, complementary, classic reverb processors
-bx_opto: Vintage Flavored Optical Compressor, with sounds from smooth to aggressive
-Eventide H910 Harmonizer, staple of major studios and award-winning producers. Time and pitch- based effects heard on platinum selling records for the last 40 years
-SPL Attacker, derived from the SPL Transient Designer allows independent control of a sound's attack—try it on drums!
-Maag EQ2 equalizer with unique "Air Band" control. Brightness to open up the top-end up to 40kHz without harshness
-Arturia Analog Lab Lite 2 - a greatest hits collection of vintage synths and electro / mechanical keyboards (Oberheim, Roland, Sequential Circuits, ARP, Hammond, Fender, Wurlitzer, Moog, Vox, etc.)
How could you not like Presonus now?! So, Keep the generosity of Presonus in your mind as well (Steinberg did give the Acoustic agent in Groove Agent SE, which is my default drums/percussions together with Battery 3).
Going to download this lot and giving away Maag EQ2 just made my mouth open for few seconds!

Because that's like buying kid a candy, instead of dealing with his issues, sorry, but we are living in "customer is always right" world and that company went over the top wrong with whole their thing, good luck to them, let's see how much time this will buy them before they actually start fixing their OS X issues.EnGee wrote:How could you not like Presonus now?!
And please, no more Presonus talk in this thread, no need really, we got plenty of those running.

f**k that, I wanted to tell my story too.
I used them for quite some time, even with the disappointing CPU issue. In fact, Eike tried to work with me about the NI/spike issue.
Then they changed the forum. Everything changed after that. They made a bunch of twats moderators and things went from bitchin' to bitching
Major attitude from the company, and when 3 came out and people were complaining about a, b, c, d.......through z, they just thumbed their nose up to those people.
I got rid of everything, told the admin to go f... themselves, and have been content with that decision.
As Zexila says, I have cakecrap and preanus on my black list.

This year I didn't switch DAWs - I finally settled on one DAW. It's nice to not be ADHD with DAWs.

Great that you do not have ADHD but did you forget which DAW you use?OzoneJunkie wrote:This year I didn't switch DAWs - I finally settled on one DAW. It's nice to not be ADHD with DAWs.

For many years I read about the problems of S1 in OS X. Anyway, my support and forum experience are limited because I just contacted them few times and it's rare that I post there.Zexila wrote:Because that's like buying kid a candy, instead of dealing with his issues, sorry, but we are living in "customer is always right" world and that company went over the top wrong with whole their thing, good luck to them, let's see how much time this will buy them before they actually start fixing their OS X issues.EnGee wrote:How could you not like Presonus now?!

The best support I had dealt with from DAW companies was Ableton Live, I haven't tried Steinberg yet.
Btw, the demo of the Pro/Artist of Cubase needs the USB dongle, but Elements doesn't need it. Elements lacks the midi tools and side chaining. It also doesn't come with Retrologue 2 and Padshop, but it has 16 (24 actually) Vsti track limits vs the 4 Vsti limit in LE. Oh, and to complete the picture, I had many problems with Retrologue and Padshop Pro because of the soft e-license only protection, but since I changed to the USB dongle, I didn't have any errors

I've been on the same journey as you. For those of us that like to work in a traditional DAW, I'm here to tell you it is VERY difficult to find something on PC anywhere near the quality/price of Logic. Cubase is the closest thing I know of but it's almost twice the price, requires a dongle and does not have high dpi support. Bitwig is a close second and does a great job of supporting windows 10 with low latency drivers, touch support and high dpi but the price is a stretch. I went for Bitwig at $299 about a month ago and although the update price really annoys me, it's the only decent choice (for me) if I want to work on Windows and not feel like I went back in time 10 years. All that aside, I have a few older macs around so probably would have been better off just sticking with Logic for music.Zexila wrote: Thanks for suggestions and taking your time to respond, already went trough demoing almost everything that is under the sun and found Bitwig to be best fit for my workflow, but not my wallet, on other hand was blown away by Jo from MuTools, but unfortunately, not with his MuLab.

I use Ableton. I have FL Studio, and was still using it for pitch correction stuff, using Newtone, but that was a pain to bring stuff into, pitch correct, save, and then bring back into Live. So I bought Melodyne, despite that costing me as much as my original FL license. I had Bitwig for a little while, about a year and a half ago.
I've found that with some adjustment, I can get around enough in any of those to make music. And all have some strengths that the others don't. But again, it is nice to be just in one DAW.
Oh, you know what. I do have Maschine too, but I don't like working in that. I still have Maschine because I have a number of Maschine packs, and I find those packs to be inspiring at times. But I do consider selling all of my Maschine stuff sometimes, because while fun, it's not where I spend my time, and the things that I don't like about Maschine are enough for me to not bother using it, except when I feel like banging on some drum pads
