Finally I had some time to test this out. I like it very much. Only negative thing is CPU usage (I have i5 2500 overclocked 3.8ghz). 2-3% usage per instance (minimum phase) is way much more than FF Pro-Q'S ~0.5%. Imagene that you have +30 these on project.. Way too high CPU usage. Shame.

I've received reports of high CPU usage (even with fast CPUs) that I can't reproduce. It's rather puzzling, and I'm trying to find out what happens. Some hosts have constantly changing block sizes that doesn't suit Equalize well, though (e.g. FL Studio) and that causes increased CPU usage. Another thing to consider is that you actually add some bands to the EQ before testing. The CPU usage in Equalize is nearly constant when you add further bands.

TheoM wrote:By the way Stian, you really need to add less Q for cut filters. I can't slope them like I can other eq plugins cause your q corresponds at its lowest to the standard 0.71 setting but that gives me no where near the control I need sorry. I wondered what has been frustrating me with the cuts and I finally had the eureka moment today,
So in Equalize, you would like the slope parameter to go below 3 dB per octave? That would be very easy to accomplish... ;)

I'm new to the party - looking forward to putting Equalize through a workout. The hope is this will be my go to equalizer. It looks great and has most of the features I was looking for.

Thanks -- glad to see you join the party! :) Since you say "most of the features" -- are there any features you miss?

Hi Stian,

Thank you for the welcome. I really want an all in one eq that I use for everything for the most part. I like to sometimes spectrum match a bass or kick drum from another piece of work when I'm drilling down to the sound I hope to end up with. So spectrum matching is one thing.

Next, I would like to add at my discretion a degree of warming effect to one or two frequency bands. Not always the whole spectrum. I think that feature would allow me to customize the sound a lot better.

I'm still sorting through Equalize's options to better understand how to optimize Mid/Side/Full frequency shaping. So once I become more familiar, I may add a comment or suggestion.

All in all, worked with Equalize for several hours last night. Very happy with my purchase. "Great job" doesn't convey how impressed I am with this eq!

Thanks for the great feedback and for your suggestions! I'm very glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase. I've added spectrum matching to the feature request list. We probably won't add any kind of warming of distortion effects to Equalize since it is marketed as a clean EQ. I think it is good to keep that distinction.

Stian
