How is copy protection for software like softsynths handled on the iOS/Android platform?

I haven't heard about iLOK or eLicenser dongle for such devices.

Why do vendors like for example UVI rely on iLOK on PC/MAC for piracy protection, while they do not require that when selling BeatHawk on iOS ?

Copy protection on iOS is locked to the App Store account that you're logged in on. I think they're not concerned about copy protection on iOS because in order to share your app with someone else you have to give them your personal login information that includes payment info for your account.

However, logging out of your App Store on the device doesn't uninstall your software, but if you deauthorize your account in iTunes for that device it will uninstall them. Strange thing.

OK, I guess the rather low prices music software apps for iOS/Android is sold at, means users rather would like to buy a legit license than having to deal with any dubious Team AiR version just to save a couple of bucks.

I guess the low prices on iOS are in reflection of the fact that there are no sales losses to piracy on the platform. I have recently moved my set up over to iOS on an iPad Pro with Cubasis Auria pro, nave a few sampling apps and a virus ti. Not much I couldn't do with this set up.
I'm away to invest in the fabfilter stuff for auria and the sugarbytes stuff. The thing I like about it is as a hobbyist I can get on with stuff instead of installing endless demos and loosing focus. Updates and installs are quick, And I hate the subscription models everyone is doing. You can also learn an iOS DAW in an hour.

Yes that is an advantage.

Once we get more AU synths and other great AU sample libraries on iOS, plus some more functions in the iOS DAWs, going iPad only could be an option for me.
And I would like to see Melodyne-like vocal editing as we got it in DAWs like Logic Pro...

I guess the question is: Is there a market?
Would we pay an additional $100 to Steinberg to buy a "Cubasis Pro"?
Or an additional $75 to Apple to buy a GarageBand Pro?
If it included the features that I got on my mind, my answer would be yes for my part.

But: Learning "Cubasis Pro" would then take more than one hour

With auria pro and a multitude of other apps I will probs end up reaching the price of logic, but I can do pretty much everything without the bloat, and legacy issues Apart from the melodyne stuff you mentioned. Well that, and a few more plugins I will miss. I really want logic clip distortion in GarageBand iOS. But I do have an access virus I'm going to run in and through an interface into iOS. I love audio editing on the iPad the zoom functions are solid. Once you get your head round the workings of iOS your good to go. I may even get a windows tablet at some point like the surface to get access to some of the software I miss. I can also use my iPad as my computer music magazine which is much cheaper on iOS, bonus. I've even got an Apple TV to mirror to a big screen although I haven't seen the need yet the pencil is next on my buy list.

Cubase (non-iOS) hasn't been pirated since v5. Do you see that reflected in the price?
Keep on guessing.

I guess we're not just talking about Cubase here, and developers have to take into account the early adoption of the platform in the pricing also but whatever

For a long time, iLok protected software wasn't pirated, did you see that reflected in the price?

Get on topic! The OP asked a question - at least I'm not pretending to know the answer and acting as an Apple salesman.
I don't know why iOS synth apps are so cheap, but I can think of quite a few reasons why plugins are worth more.
Maybe when I was 6 years old, I would tell the world that (software) product pricing was as simple as cost plus profit minus piracy... but nah, I didn't have internet and I was smarter than that. :P

Seriously man, honestly I didn't come on here with any intent to piss you off, I don't get it. I replied to the topic with an on topic answer to my feelings about the question asked in a public forum. I wasn't pretending, it was a plausible answer.
What's with the 6 year old comment your making assumptions the internet wasn't around when I was a kid either.
I like the iPad Pro I'm not selling it though you can get your own One if you wish I'm not selling anything.

Again I apologise - on a side note and there is no sarcasm here, I really like your SoundCloud man, you are a talented individual, much better than me. I wish you all the best with your musical endevoures.

Well, I apologise too. It was not my intention to get personal... but, I do think my arguments were solid - and all I got from you was "whatever" and "jog on". :(
I guess it's a pet peeve of mine: honest customers shouldn't be treated as "criminals" (=copy protection). Software piracy is a complicated issue and companies like to pretend that they're the innocent British/Spanish empire fighting the demonic eye patch wearing goons. Don't just copy that rhetoric!
Many/most companies want profit maximisation - they don't see the reduction in piracy as a reason to reduce prices - but as a way to have more profit (and I'm not saying that that's necessarily the outcome).
Thanks for listening to my music! I'm glad you like it. Most tracks have an iPad synth in it. I think the iPad is great when used as a single (touch controlled) synth, used together with a PC-based DAW. I'm sure it can be used by itself to make complete tracks - but it's just too much "screen switching" for me.

The soundscapes are really cool. I also have just got Waldorf nave and enjoying exploring the possibilities.
I'm glad that something positive has came of this discussion going a little off topic at times, even if it is for my own personal listening gain.
I totally get iOS isn't for everyone file handling is a PITA however I want to try an in the moment approach to production, sound design in multi mode on the virus layering, record in and mangle from there.
The iPad was a last ditch attempt for me to start enjoying making music again and enjoy the creative phase which I had lost the passion for, I am excited with the prospect of just having a go with no real pressure involved. As time has gone on my musical ambitions have changed and I'm slowly drifting towards giving up electronic music in favour of guitar which my son has been teaching me. I have an iPad laying around and it does allot of things for us as a family. but I couldn't justify another MacBook purchase after my last. I have a cheap i5 laptop coming next week nothing special so I can still tweak from time to time. I guess I should give up the ghost but iOS has enabled me to keep going as a hobby without the large investment in software as I have other financial commitments these days. I've always bought all my software which is why I've sold so much on here with so little post count, most of my posts relate to the sales thread. I sold pretty much all my software- komplete ultimate etc and all my other gear, and bought a virus snow, a set of 8020 genelecs and I have the iPad quite a little portible set up. I will buy the odd iOS AU but I'm happy being minimalistic. Anyways thanks and sorry we got off on the wrong foot and good luck. Sorry OP for going off topic also.
