Is the Repro5 really happening?

I know what you mean. That's why I bought so many softsynths. I have more space on the harddrive than in my room

It's not even about an exact replica... Rather about its character...Urs wrote:I don't have a VS... can't say...
There's a really strange "patina" that the Prophet VS adds to its wavetables.
It would be great to have something like a shaping module (maybe in Zebra 3) to apply to waveforms.
(i guess it's a mixture of reduced wordlength, aliasing and artefacts from transpositions in interaction with the analog filter).
(the youtube demo isn't really great, however it gives an idea...)

It's probably the use of truncation at a very high sample rate (around 250KHz, apparently). I doubt this is something that could be added as an effect or downstream process, as it has to do with the way the waves are generated. But Urs would know better.Arrested Developer wrote:It's not even about an exact replica... Rather about its character...

It's very tempting to buy a VS and send it to Urs (I was similarly tempted a couple years ago when I saw a Voyetra 8 for sale, before there was any RePro-1 or talk of a ReCat). If either a VS or a V8 show up again I might be shipping a package to Germany...
(You know that you can sell your synths on once you're done with them, right Urs?

Sure, but... considering that Repro-1 took a year to do for the whole team... we won't be making progress quickly, no matter how many synths pile upNews From The Sky wrote:(You know that you can sell your synths on once you're done with them, right Urs?)

Lots of technical challenges ahead here, based on the code of Repro-1... we certainly *try*tehlord wrote:I would buy the shit out of a good Prophet 5 emulation.

Hahaha, yeah, if CEM 3320 get reissued as well... but that's not so likely. The 3340 VCO was reissued because there were a magnitude more units used in synths.tehlord wrote:Quick, before Behringer gets there first.......

Hmmm... does that mean they license them from OnChip (Curtis successor) or do they "just build them" because they can?

(that said, I'm making good progress refactoring the ModMatrix to be compatible with MultiCore processing - which is one of the main obstacles we have building a nice Repro-5)
