Hi,

I just got myself Logic 5 for windows, I wonder how I can do this;
play my guitar, record it dry, add a VST effect to it real time and listen to the wet sound...

You need Logic 5.5 for this. Maybe Emagic still has an upgrade available.

If you can get it, you will need to enable "Software Monitoring" in the "Audio Driver" window.

If you monitor through a "Track" you will hear any effects, either inserts or sends, but the recorded signal will be dry - just like you would with a real in-line recording console.

If you want to record with FX in Logic, you should use an "Audio Input" object assigned to whatever track you wish to record on. Then you can record any insert FX assigned to that input.

Hope this helps

I posted some links here....

that might help.

The 5.5 download is still available.

If you get the Logic Pro upgrade you will have access to all the pro synths and effects (except Space Designer).

$199 at a retailer near you.

Very worth it for the EXS24, ES2, Evoc, EVP88, EVD6 and EVB3.

Thanks for the answer, I'll try it tonight.

As for my version, I actually have the Logic RPC Pro version. That came bundled with my Roland Studio Package Pro (SI-24 and RPC1) and the version is based on 5.5

I have a few years experience with Cubasis, and last week I changed to Logic, the manual is 666 pages...

He he, a bit late reply...

But I managed to do it now; I send my input to a bus. That bus contains the FX and that's all.

Very cool to be able to play this way, I do not notice any latency, even 2 FX in a row didn't make a difference...

Very nice.

Less nice; my dealer will not allow me to upgrade from RCP Pro to a version with all FX...
He also refuses to sell individual plugins...
Strange; online you can buy them in America, but not in Europe :(
