Here's my background...
I've mainly used "Buzz", a modular sequencer & VST host (using Polac's VST adapter plugin). I like the simplicity of Buzz, where I don't spend all my time putzing around with things. So I've looked at a few similar Hosts such as Open Modplug Tracker, MadTracker, Psycle, Buze, DarkWave Studio, Mulab, Bitwig 8-Track, sunvox, energyXt, Renoise and a couple others like Reaper and HollyHock.

Here's my (wish-list) requirements...
1. Free or thereabouts (excludes energyXT, Renoise)
2. Supports VST's (excludes sunvox)
3. Easy to figure out, or in other words a Modular/Tracker (excludes HollyHock, Reaper)
4. Portable, No Install (excludes DarkWave Studio and Buzz, Buze?)
5. Somewhat Visually Appealing GUI (excludes Open Modplug Tracker)
6. Unlimited Tracks/Plugins (excludes MuLab, Bitwig 8-Track)
7. Solid/Stable (excludes Psycle )
8. Currently In Development, meaning there's a possibility for improvement (excludes MadTracker)
9. Should be able to record to wav (also excludes MadTracker)
10. 32-bit/64-bit versions, bridging

So, as you can see, everything has been excluded in one way or another. Despite this, I've basically narrowed it down to either MuLab, Reaper, Psycle or even going back to Buzz again. Out of these I think I like MuLab and Buzz the most. Has anyone tried using Image-Line's MiniHost Modular (VST plugin) inside of MuLab? Since MiniHost Modular appears to be basically a free version of energyXT, would using it in MuLab mean you could have more plugins/tracks then MuLab's limit? MiniHost Modular has to be installed, but at least it's a simple install I assume, compared to Buzz. I know Buzz has been revived, but updates seem few and far between. I haven't tried it, but I saw on the website that the 64-bit version is considered experimental, so most people are using the 32-bit version.

I welcome any suggestions or feedback you may have.

This seems a lot of work just to avoid the limits of the MuLab Free version. Why not just buy a legit copy of MuLab Unlimited for $69 and save all this hassle!
