Chord preview works here in the new Quick Suggestions pop-up, you need to set the 'chord preview' instrument (Settings / Preview tab).

Right, lulukom, this will be improved.
I even thought of selecting the left or right chords using keys (e.g. C1/D1) on your MIDI keyboard.
All suggestions are welcome, of course :)

Hi Attila
I have setting in Preview: Active Track (Chord+Bass). the window that show all chords let choose it. I see there is in preferences too a setting. But it let only choose a instrument. I like hear the chord with the sound in the track i edit chords. Maybe the quick suggestion can use the setting too. I notice in quick suggestions window it is possible to click on text after based on:. after i choose for example pop minor in the popped up master track the suggestion do not change. but after i click on chord slot(in master track) it reopen correct.

when want add chords in keyboard mode it show C D E usw chords and in old chord chooser for all chords. But in RC quick suggestion and master track is used I II... Is there a option that show too C D E ?. so all can be more consistent.

Dorian btw seem a scale in which some hits produce and it use not so much notes. you can see in wiki that some succesfull songs use it. maybe you find some day some time to add Dorian Chord suggestions too.

in german wikipedia are list the songs. most i like much. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorischer_Modus some in short "simon garfunkel Scarborough Fair or the song what can we do with the drunken sailer. I Feel Love von Donna Summer (gecovert von Bronski Beat), it is in a-Dorisch written, und das in h-Dorisch written Sweet Lullaby von Deep Forest. Mad World von Tears for Fears (gecovert von Gary Jules) is in e-dorisch. Refrain bei Stayin’ Alive von den Bee Gees, Billie Jean from Michael Jackson and Another Brick in the Wall from Pink Floyd,. Samba Pa Ti from Carlos Santana.
Rockmusik Albums Live At Fillmore East from Allman Brothers Band or Pink Floyd in Instrumental Any Colour You Like from LP The Dark Side of the Moon. School from Supertramp (from Album Crime of the Century)."

Hi magicmusic,

yes, we can change the chord preview to use the type of preview set in "Chord Suggestions".

The Quick Suggestions use the chord naming set in the composition. If it is "C D E..." then you wlll see letters. If I misunderstood your question please send me a screenshot about what you mean.
Dorian btw seem a scale in which some hits produce and it use not so much notes. you can see in wiki that some succesfull songs use it. maybe you find some day some time to add Dorian Chord suggestions too.
Dorian is also used for suggestions, but due to small screen space only one mode is displayed. E.g. when you see "(Aeolian +2)" for Vm7 that means Aeolian +2 other modes. If you move the mouse over the chord, you will see "from Aeolian (Natural Minor), Dorian, Mixolydian" displayed. So Dorian is not omitted. However if it would be important to see all scales/modes maybe all of them could be shown.

Thanks for your quick feedback!

Hello again, Attila!
An old problem that prevents me from working correctly ...
Through the midi import window I want to import the MIDI file into the composition, but
route for import I can offer my MIDI file only one -
on a new track ...But I already have a track with a template for this file ...
Is it possible (when importing) to make a choice of the track and the specific location of the file on the track?
Unfortunately, for the time being I can not drag the midi file with the values of pitchbands ... Thanks!

I love the new chord suggestion,
especially entering chords via mouse and seeing in real time is great!
Thank you so much.

thanks, now i notice that i can change this to Chord Naming to absolute. all is ok. Dorian suggestions i see only, in borrowed chords, when i have scale Major. but i see in Chord Rules no Dorian Setting and when i choose in Master track scale Dorian, then borrowed chords show me no Dorian chords.

BTW: for the midi import i have idea that now that RC support Track Template, it can be possible to choose a track template for every import track in the list

Hi. Just installed 3.3b2 x64. Tried Random Melody Generator. I wanted melody with chords notes only - so I use Harmony Note probability 100% option. Not working. Plenty of notes are not Harmony notes. What am I doing wrong?
Please, see the image.

Actually, all of the notes are harmony notes. The harmony is for G minor, which is the iv chord (subdominant) of your D minor key. I cannot tell from the screenshot why your generated melody is built from the G minor harmony.

As an alternative to the "Random Melody Generator", you could also try using the "Bass Generator", and configure it to "Use All Chord Notes" and set the "Transpose" option to "None":

A third alternative is to play around with the "Arpeggiator" generator to create interesting chordal melodies:

The phrase is transposed, that is why notes are not aligned on chord notes. Please set transposition to zero. I have tried the Random Melody Generator and all notes were chord notes as you would expect. Please note that 'scale' notes are used, so you can transpose the melody by scale steps. However you can quickly convert it to 'chord' notes by selecting the phrase and pressing '3' (=shortcut for Convert To Relative Chord Notes+Scale Steps)

RapidComposer Beta v3.3b3 is available!

v3.3Beta3 changes:
  • New option for absolute to relative conversion ("Convert Articulations In Phrase")
  • Notes may have two articulations assigned to them
  • [OS X] "Rescan MIDI Devices" works again after changes in OS X!
  • [Windows] Fixed: file selector panel did not open for "Add VSTi" when the initial path was non-existent
  • [Windows] Other file selector fixes
  • Really fixed: a bug when note on velocity 1,2,3 was treated as strong/medium/weak accent and saved accordingly

Curious. I took another look at Krovatin's screenshot. The track has a transposition setting of 12. Assuming that transposition setting equates to a transposition of plus one octave, why does that transposition value prevent the notes in the generated phrase from being chord notes that follow the chords in the master track? What is RC doing under the hood?

You are right with the track transpose, which is in semitones.
However the phrase is also transposed because there is a "(Transposed)" label next to the name.
The two melody generators differ from other generators in using the master track chords to set up their notes. Other generators don't use them. Since the melody phrases use scale notes* the result may be ruined when transposing the phrase. The melody will be correctly transposed on scale, but it won't match the chords anymore. In these cases as a warning a "(Transposed)" label is shown next to the name.

*you can convert the melody to chord note relative phrase, but the rules may not be true anymore when you make changes to the master track chords

Attila this is Awesome ! New chord input, "Convert Articulations In Phrase" and 2 Articulations.
***In the Riffs remove the Play On String # switches from the Midi before converting, then it will play automatically over any chord/scale without missing notes due to wrong string after re-chording/scaling.
With the 2 Articulations I can add FX on the other.
With RC, Midi and Virtual Instruments you have so much more control than using audio.
Attila you have made it so easy and rapid to do things,
Thanks !!!!!
