That one is just a straightforward 1 to 1 compensation and it works adequately enough for subtle saturators like Britson. Compensating for compression is much more complicated because the entire RMS/peak balance changes dramatically and the developer needs to decide whether they want to compensate for peak or RMS or some other loudness standards that are even frequency-dependent... or if they want to use a more traditional "auto make-up gain" found in a lot of older compressors already, which calculates the gain based on the ratio/threshold values and doesn't care about the signal itself - which of course can get WILDLY inaccurate.Svama wrote:Like the output compensation from britson, but this is maybe simpler at programming?!
My opinion is that it's a waste of precious time and resources for the developer to think about these things, when they could be refining and perfecting the plugin's core function i.e. the freaking compression! Seriously, just do it like The Glue does it - predictable, intuitive, simple!

TuCo CPU usage is "very low"
as comparison on my system, " 10 " instances of:
-Waves C1: takes 17-18% CPU
-TuCo: takes 10-11% CPU (and can get even lower if you turn off saturation)
-Presswerk takes 22-23% CPU

Yes TuCo is incredibly light on the CPU. It barely moves the needle in Reaper.

I use The Glue a lot. How this one compares to it?

How is it in with dealing with full song material (on the master bus)? There are some "character" compressors that can be great when used subtly on the master bus, like bx_opto, NI Vari Comp - I wonder if TuCo is upto that.

I'm DYING for the Mark II versions of these plugins to come out. I go to bed having dreams of VST plugins because I'm that deranged.

To answer my own question above.... YES! TuCo is terrific on a whole mix and I love it on everything.
What's the deal with MKII versions - was there an announcement I missed?

Nobody seems to know anything, perhaps including them. They were talking about starting the development process of MK II versions about a year ago and they changed the logo on their Facebook page maybe indicating that they're getting ready to announce something, but who knows when that will be.
