Agreed, If TS was to add something like Ableton's Simpler or FL's Slicex than Tracktion would actually be the perfect DAW for me and my workflowinkwarp wrote:hmm.
they still haven't done anything to make beat chopping simpler.
the current method is hideously convoluted. Anyone who does this a lot will not be happy with it. a mystifying detail in what is a good daw overall.

i agree. 'dinosaur-ish' aspects aside : )I don't know why there still isn't an Auto-slice thingy like Live and so most other Softs have ... Come to think about it it does seem very Dinosaurish .... Aside from that Waveform is a Very Nice ..
i guess that the user base for Tracktion would be laptop users mostly.
the all-in-one interface is a real positive in that respect.

I'm not going to get into the "feature" aspect, but I do wonder about the stability. For me, tracktion is only second to sonar in crashes. And they are "poof" crashes that I sent in, and heard nothing back.
That doesn't seem to upset very many people, but it does me. Feature wise, I always liked tracktion.
Edit, w/o deep digging it looks like this offers almost nothing from 7 other than some stuff I'm personally not interested in.

I've been playing around with Waveform for a couple hours now. My initial thoughts... God, it really is easy on the eyes isn't it?? I thought Tracktion 7 put it further up there with the top in terms of visual aesthetics, but Waveform looks even better with small hits of color in all the right places and the addition of some subtle shading. Menus and windows glide and move smoother than ever and the whole thing just feels refined. I'd go so far as to say Waveform sets a new bar for me personally in the modern DAW visual department.
So far ive ran into zero stability issues or hiccups and my plugin library seems to like Waveform a lot more than previous Tracktion releases. The short time ive spent with collective has me excited to explore it further but I can say it sounds great and the layout feels like a huge improvement over the rather busy Biotek synth preceding it. Like others have mentioned, my biggest concern with Tracktion releases has always been an issue of stability. I'm happy to report that so far(knock on wood) I haven't had a single glitch or crash opening the same plugins that generally gave Tracktion trouble in prior releases. This is huge for me as stability was always the one thing holding me back from making T7 my main production DAW. Granted, I've only been testing for a few hours but I'll be sure to pop back in after more time with Waveform to give an update on this.
All in all, my initial impression is that Tracktion Co. seem to have put a lot of thought and hard work into getting there flagship product into the big leagues. Of course time will tell, but things are looking pretty sweet from here. Well done guys

Sonar and Tracktion 7 have both been very stable for me. Do I need it? No. Will I get it? Probably.
This is what I do for fun, and Tracktion is fun. I'll always do my heavy lifting in Sonar.
Tracktion seems to be geared more for the EDM crowd to me, but it's more than capable of what I need too.

The fastest and most native approach right now would be possibility to split sample by warp points defined in loop properties (that can be also autodetected)

What could be simpler than select clip then / (where cursor is)?
I always thought T made that very intuitive.

Tracktion download speeds have been historically shit but now we have to download 3 Gigs it's a joke.
Over 12 hours later and several restarts it's still not finished.
At one point for about 1 minute speeds jumped to 5Mb/s but then went back to 150kb/s
I don't want the 3Gigs of shitty content I just want Waveform damnit!!!

If the demo is smaller can that be activated as full version?

Doesn't sound like that's the case - the full download is nearly 3GB but the demo is apparently just around 20MB

Looks like one can't change MIDI editor's grid size, whole thing just feels clunky, this alone is show stopper for me... on other hand, dig the mixer, but who cares at this point.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here?

I just tried again to download the file when you click for the free trial and the download is 3,24 Gb.
