I don't own any iOS device so can't check this out myself. But everytime I send a Soundcloud link to someone who does, they say they can't play it -- either they get an error message along the lines of "link not supported" or they get prompted to download an app which turns out to be unavailable. Eh? Can it be that iOS doesn't support the biggest streaming audio site? Rather frustrating. If this is the case, does anyone know of a streaming audio site which simply worlks cross-platform?

I've never used it, but there is an iOS app. Maybe whoever is trying to download it is running a too-old version of iOS?

Maybe they're just sick of you sending them Soundcloud links and lying?

My question is to people who actually know something about this. Do you?

I have no problem with SoundCloud web links on my iPhone.

However, the mobile version of SoundCloud's website is crippled SHIT. I refuse to use the app because it doesn't offer anything the mobile page doesn't offer.

In fact, I hate apps that just wrap around shitty crippled mobile websites (looking at you too, Facebook).

This!
A few years ago you had a full soundcloud version for iOS where you could upload, edit, comment and whatever. Mainly everything you could do with the desktop version (which is absolute shit too now).
Forget soundcloud. I use it still too sometimes and sadly most people too for demos and stuff. The streaming quality is anyway crap. Time for a real competitor!

This almost always happens if you've set the file on SC to "private" (not public), and you haven't set your permissions properly.

If you're going to keep the file private, you can adjust your permissions, but even at that, there's no guarantee it will work.

And in either case, it doesn't always happen to iPhone users (though they're the ones usually affected, from what I've seen in the years I've been doing this), and it doesn't affect Mac users on their computers.

Is this a private file on SC? If it is, try the settings in the screenshot below. If it's not private, there's something else wrong with the link. Note that you might also have to enable "Offline listening". I wouldn't enable anything else, unless you want your file to appear on other Websites without your consent or knowledge.)

And there are two SoundCloud-related apps for iOS. (Three, if you count SoundCloud Go, which no one does.) They're all crap. The general SoundCloud app is supposed to be for listeners, while "Pulse" is better for those of us who post stuff there. You now have greater (though still all-but-useless) control over what you've posted. ("Go" is for people who want to spend $9.95 a month to listen to what's on SC.)

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Here's some of my stuff: https://soundcloud.com/shadowsoflife. If you hear something you like, I'm looking for collaborators.
